Kaoru knew that Haruhi could get a little caught up in studying, but this seemed a bit much. Even at home it wasn't uncommon for him and Hikaru to try and distract her with something a lot more fun (to them, at least). There was no way he would let her spend her free time in Somarium just studying. It was a dream world after all, there had to be loads more interesting things around.

And spending time with Haruhi was something he always enjoyed. It was getting harder to do, though, especially after he'd let Hikaru have a chance with the girl. Even after it was obvious that she loved Tono, Hikaru still oftentimes would want to spend time alone with Haruhi. Kaoru really couldn't say he minded, since jealousy wasn't something that came easily to him (especially when being with Haruhi made his brother so happy), but there was no way he would ignore an opportunity to be with her.

It didn't take long for Kaoru to get to the library from the apartments, and once there he quickly found Haruhi. He made his way over to her before peering over her shoulder and resting a hand on her head (with just a bit of hair ruffling).

Lost half in her book, half in her thoughts, Haruhi was unaware of Kaoru's approach until she felt his hand on her head. Startled, she gave a violent jump, then calmed enough to realise to whom the hand belonged.

"Kaoru, hey," she greeted, turning to face him. "Sorry, you got here more quickly than I expected." She gestured to the books she still had sprawled over the table.

"Yeah, I can tell. Want me to help you clean up?" Kaoru really wasn't surprised that she hadn't stopped, since she was pretty obsessed with studying sometimes. But after his conversation with Tamaki he was a little less sure; he knew from experience that both of them could be pretty oblivious, sometimes at the same time as one another. For now all he could really do was take her around the city to have some fun.

"Ah, you don't have to, I can get it," Haruhi said quickly. Kaoru had already met her in the library, where he likely wouldn't have otherwise been; he didn't need to put away her sprawl of books. "They're all from a shelf right there, anyway."

--Which made the whole task easier, as Haruhi had been too lazy to search in other areas once she'd found a table and a useful-looking shelf. She might be studying, but she was still being a least a little bit of her lazy self. Quickly she piled and picked up an armful of books, only walking a few steps to place them on a shelf at which she didn't even have to bend down to reach.

With that done, she turned back and smiled. "Do you know where you want to go first?" she asked. "We could just walk... I think there's an ice cream stand a few blocks away..."

It had been a while since she had last been alone with Kaoru. Things both back in Tokyo and in Somarium had been hectic, and the twins hadn't often left each others' sides-- but for the times Hikaru had wanted to talk to Haruhi. She'd texted Kaoru plenty of times, but that wasn't the same as spending time with him face-to-face.

((ooc; sorry for being so late on this! I was busy with family stuff yesterday.))

"I hadn't really thought about it. Ice cream sounds great, though!"

The last time he had really been alone with Haruhi was when he took her on their date to the amusement park. It had been fun, but the stress of everything going on between him and Hikaru had taken some of the fun out of it. Hopefully this time would be better, even if it really was just as friends.

[ooc: it's fine! I wasn't too quick on the uptake, myself xD;]

"Ice cream it is, then," Haruhi affirmed with a nod. Food was always welcome.

She headed for the doors, glancing at Kaoru as she did so. It was difficult to think of Kaoru's being without Hikaru for so long; surely even when fighting they hadn't ever gone a day without seeing each other, and Kaoru had been Hikaru-less for months now. It was hard not to worry about him, though-- generally being the more mature of the twins-- he seemed to be doing all right.

"The air's gone oddly still," she observed, looking up at the sky once leaving the building. Even Haruhi, who could usually care less about strange happenings in floating castles and weather patterns, couldn't but notice something seemed out of sorts. "Have you been noticing anything strange, Kaoru?"
