BTW let me know if this is an issue. Passive watching, no worries.chose_deathJuly 18 2010, 03:06:31 UTC
Naomi was right: Javert wasn't due to arrive for at least another fifteen minutes or so. But true to his word, he did station a particular beat officer to keep a close watch on the scientist for the full hour preceding the Inspector's appointment. And then some, really - what Javert hadn't told Naomi Hunter was that he had assigned an officer to look out for certain scoundrels (such as Diva) around her abode. He would not allow a messy repeat of her lab's destruction if he could prevent it, after all.
This officer was currently lounging quite comfortably in his patrol car. In fact, he didn't look like he could possibly exit the vehicle if he tried. Soft, moldable, and as big around as he was tall, the officer watched Naomi like a lecherous beetle over the straw of his jumbo Diet Coke. He had what looked to be five full dinners' worth of pizza and a box of donuts stacked in the car with him. The police radio was tuned in to his usual frequency, and he was ready to lift that pudgy arm of his and put out an electronic alert in case of trouble.
The officer's name plate read, simply, Laredo.
It was clear that Officer Laredo was good at very little else but sitting and watching. And aside from that, some higher power must be protecting this officer from getting fired. With few useful work to assign this officer, Javert tasked Laredo to keep an eye on Naomi Hunter.
Here the officer performed well enough. And he would have to make do until the Inspector was due to show up for his actual appointment. Luckily, he still had quite a bit of Coke, pizza and donuts to complete, so he would remain in that same spot for quite some time.
