While Cain waited for company to show, he decided to warm up. After all, there's nothing like a gunshot to point the way to the right field.
For the present, he's using his own couch for target practice. It was already a worn piece of furniture when he happened along and he seldom uses it. So another shot from the small pistol and there's an explosion of fluff coming from one of the cushions. Cain registers the hit with a small narrowing of his eyes, but doesn't smile. It would take a lot more than that, the fleeting pleasure of a good shot.
