Opening the door from the alley to the back room, the late-teenage boy called out through the open back room door. "Ran-kun! I'm back! I got the new fertilizer!" As he was doing this, he lugged said bags into the back room, before slipping back out to wheel his motorcycle into the shed he used as a garage, and then locked the shed and back door.
Dusting off his hands as he came into the shop proper, he turned to the older man who served as assistant manager. "So, how were things while I was gone?" Without waiting for an answer, he peeked out front to see how the outside displays looked and if they needed watering, and then came back in to check the window displays.
"You know, I've been thinking," he said, sitting down at the table they did their arrangements at. "Tamaki-kun has some really good iced tea at the cafe. With summer coming, I was thinking we could work out a deal with him to get supplied with iced tea that we could serve to customers while they're waiting for their orders. We've got those two tables that we're only using for displaying flowers, we could easily clean them up and offer them to our customers to sit at. What do you think?"
Finally, the young manager took a break long enough for the man he'd displaced to respond.
