And to make a bad day worse, rough tires screech to a halt on the street behind her. No doubt the fastest and most advanced model that Somarium has yet to manufacture, the stylized sports car that was gaudily custom-painted golden is now parked directly at the building's entrance. A spot reserved for the executives, though that condition is as good as moot, taking in account of the fact that the company that might go bankrupt at any moment. ...The fact that the entire side is vacant probably did nothing to help the image.

"Ah, Arturia." The door slams, and light footsteps approach. "What luck to cross you on a fair morning." The cocky blond with blood crimson eyes smirked as he approached. "It would, however, appear that yours is much less so, as little bearing as it has over the refined attractiveness of your troubled face. Play dress-up as you see fit, but what would be the problem, for you to stand so dejectedly outside of your very own family offices?" Mockery, sympathy, insult, flattery - they were all present, though it would be difficult to discern the proportions of each.

The second the sound reached her ears, she instantly knew her day was getting just that much worse. Without even so much as a glance, she responded with a clear note of irritation.

"I see you are following me again, Gilgamesh. Have you really nothing better to do than waste your plentiful time annoying me? Unlike you, I do not have the time, nor freedom to forsake responsibilities like work and professional commitments."

Quickly, she turned on her heal to quickly walk as far away from him as she could. Granted, she had no where in mind, but as long as she kept moving, she would put distance between her and the object of her irritation: That horrible idol Gilgamesh.

Her undiluted annoyance was replied with a carefree chuckle, one that managed to be condescending nevertheless. As valiant as her attempt was, he easily catches up to match her pace. Her short stature and her shorter legs just weren't effective.

"You would begrudge me for the works of chance? How inconsiderate. Ah, but it is your desperation speaking for you - or would you truly be ignorant? My industry can move swiftly and become rather demanding. I simply happen to have my affairs already taken care of today." He lightly responded, with his hands loosely tucked in his pockets. His red eyes were focused on her alone; not a single glance was spared to the stopping and whispering pedestrians. ...Of course, for all his fame, they also knew better than to get in the KING's way.

"And where might you be headed to now? Ah, or would your bureau have finally been put out of its misery?"

No matter how much she increased her pace, he didn't get any further away. Dammit.

"I have nothing to speak to you about. There are plenty of other women willing and eager to give themselves to you. Go bother one of them." Her heals clicked loudly, and she had no intentions of stopping.

"I have things...important things to take care of. And I have no intention of telling you where I am heading to do so."

But she wasn't paying close enough attention to where she was going. She didn't notice the car until the driver honked, but it was already too close. In that second, she could only stare.

"That is irrelevant. I've nothing to say to the flock, as well." He shrugged, still keeping up with ease.

"Is that so? You were staring quite keenly at the front doors when I crossed you, unmoving and without entering. Why would that be?"

He would have gone on, but his peripheral vision caught sight of the traffic, to which he proceeded to slow down on. He was lagging two steps behind her and idly wondering just what she thought she was doing to cross a street like this - he ignored signs and lights himself, but not only would one be strange to walk straight into obvious upcoming traffic, Arturia was also one whose entire credo of living was centered around laws.

Oh, you're kidding. It may be strange to feel annoyed to the point of exasperation under a case as such, but it is how he feels. There was also a vague sense of familiarity as if what is happening is something recurring, but the nagging sense of déjà-vu passes by quick enough.

His reaction was almost mechanical. Shooting one arm out like lightning, her wrist was roughly grabbed before a stunningly powerful pull yanked her backwards, removing her entire frame clean off the street.

It did, however, also rob her of her balance - it wasn't so much as she was light that his pull was simply too heavy. If she expected to stumble and fall onto the ground, however, then the contact with cold and jagged concrete never came. Rather, the momentum would cause her back to collide against something soft but also firm -- him.

Yet the first thing that she will hear is a sigh, and were she to turn around, she'll see him looking down at her, sporting a rather unique expression that would result from a mix of disbelief, amusement, irritation, and ridicule. There was no worry nor concern.

"...What do you think you're doing? For a woman so driven to uncover success amidst nothing but failure, that was certainly a remarkably pitiable display of failure itself." ...And of course, he would probably be the only one capable of remaining completely unfazed at all that just happened, how they're standing against each other now, the whispering of the crowd, and that car screeching to a halt. She is all that matters, after all.

Before she even really realized what was going on, she felt her back meet what could only be his chest. But for some reason--which was odd to her--she didn't try to break away from him. It in fact felt...familiar somehow.

But she broke out of it soon enough. "I merely forgot the offices are closed today." it wasn't a complete lie. "Matters of my family and work...are not important to you."

She was purely focused on maintaining her composure. Though, it was impossible for her to keep the faint pink hue off her face, and he would certainly be able to see the change on her ears. And even still, she didn't want to cause a scene; not with all these people around. She knew his reputation, and she knew the sorts of trouble she could get in should she throw too much of a public fit.

"If you would be so kind as to release my wrist and step away from me, I will quickly be on my way."

...It was a lie, nevertheless, and one would need to think twice - thrice, even - before even attempting to lie to him. He simply shook his head in response.

"A terribly transparent lie. Forget? You? Is anyone supposed to believe this, Arturia?" He continued loftily. "You are correct about that, on the other hand. No, I care not. You, however, are directly involved, hence I shall, in this instance, extend my interest." If agreeing with someone is supposed to display at least a shred of humility, the leading figure of Somarium's music industry just succeeded in skewering the concept by completely turning it around.

"After you nearly got ran over?" Never mind that it was probably his fault, of course. "I think not. This is also in the best interest of everyone in this city, yourself included, you understand. Or are you telling me that you can afford to gain a few broken limbs and a fine, in addition to your company's already considerable financial deficit?"

To which point he shot out a dismissive gaze to the poor driver who got out of his car, staring at them and unsure of what to do. On one hand, he WAS rather pissed and scared that he almost ran over some girl because she tried to cross when she wasn't supposed to (what's with dressing up to look like a guy? Almost fooled him...), but on the other... Yeah, who didn't recognize the leading figure of WORLD EDGE? ...Yes, he could sue her, but KING could probably sue him back a hundred times over, if this is really what it looks like from that distance. The poor NPC man didn't need to be looked at twice. The blood red eyes told him to leave, and it would be fine to just forget about this as if it never happened. Okay by him, since she wasn't hurt and his car was unscathed, so after some more staring and scrambling, the man got back in his car and drove off.

The creeper air His previous demeanor returns as he looks back down at her - not exactly letting go of her wrist, either.

"You are idle. I have already given you one chance to produce a remotely decent excuse, which you have most easily ruined. Shall I offer you one last attempt to persuade me to generously consider otherwise, or shall you cease making a scene and follow me elsewhere? I simply wish to talk, and this crowd is getting rather bothersome. I will treat you, of course, that goes without saying. Well?"

The word 'lie' was foul tasting, even when she didn't say it. Even if this was the insufferable fool, Gilgamesh, she shouldn't have resorted to something so wholly against her principles; she was of course terrible at it anyway. She merely made a sound of annoyance under her breath before turning back at him an even more annoyed glare.

"Any attempt I would make would be completely ignored by you regardless. I don't suppose I really have a choice in the matter, do I?"

She had run out of options. The second his hand caught her arm she could no longer refuse his requests. Though she would never speak it out loud, she was now indebted to him. It was only for this tiny instance, and anything other than 'joining him for a talk' was strictly out of the question.

"This once, I shall humor you."

For a split second, she had a clear sense of deja vu.
