The first thing Hisoka noticed when he woke up, was that it was quiet. Not quiet in the audible sense (actually, it seemed that there was a bit more sound than normal going on outside), but quiet to his other senses. Specifically, his empathy. Moving from his bed, he looked out the loft's small window that faced the street, and was shocked to see people out there, coming and going in the neighborhood as if they had all their lives. Even with all of those people, he felt nothing. Hisoka frowned.
He got dressed, still puzzling over this, and went downstairs to make himself some breakfast. His stocks were starting to get low, he'd have to go shopping. "At least I don't have to shop for Tsuzuki," he thought. A soft 'thump' outside his door distracted him, and he opened the door to find a newspaper sitting on his front stoop. He picked it up and returned to his food, puzzling over the contents. Besides the fact that he'd never gotten a paper before, the articles in this implied that there were many more people than he'd seen in Somarium here, and that they'd been here for a long time. He briefly thought of the ghosts who'd been around for a while (which barely registered on his empathy, but could still be felt), and the emotionless people outside.
He needed to find someone to ask what was going on. He didn't want to take a risk of his empathy being on the fritz and coming back suddenly, so his first instinct was to teleport to the village, where there were less people who could set off his empathy. Until he discovered that he couldn't teleport. He attempted to will himself invisible, but that didn't work, either. He glanced at a knife on the counter, but didn't want to test his healing abilities. Worried, he knew he needed to find answers, so he put away his barely-touched breakfast, and left the house.
Hisoka ignored the people on the street, the fact that he couldn't feel anything worrying him more with each person he passed. When he reached the outside of the neighborhood, and was in Somni proper, he realized there was one other thing missing, and dipped into the first alley he could find. He looked around to make sure no one was in sight, and rolled up his sleeve. It was gone. There was no trace of the curse Muraki had left on him, had killed him with. Was he truly free?
Shaking his head so he didn't get his hopes up, he rolled his sleeve back down and left they alley, looking for anyone who might know what was going on.
