Who: Argilla, Jinana, a Tyrannosaurus Rex, and YOU. Where: A conveniently close by and thinly spread patch of jungle. (Note, this also takes place BEFORE the event update.) Style: Either! Status: Open
[meanwhile, Maka was resting at the base of a tree-- she'd probably be up in it if she were in any mood to climb, if only to avoid anything that may have been lingering around ground level, but she hadn't noticed anything nearby for a while. she was tired and just wanted somewhere to sit for at least a little bit, and so... that's what she was doing.
up until the ground started to rumble, and before Maka has time to react, the freakin' huge dinosaur reveals itself, romping through the forest dangerously close by.]
-- Not again!
[just how many of these things were there?! the best course of action, naturally, was to high-tail it out of there-- and that's what Maka has in mind while she pushes herself up to her feet, but she didn't even make one step further before the sandy colored demon in question zipped through the trees out of seemingly nowhere and landed on the ground nearby in front of her
( ... )
[For what it's worth, the spiny, mamary-fanged demon looks just as surprised as Maka, judging by how the thing suddenly freezes when it 'sees' her. The head turns to face Maka for a moment, and even without out eyes it seems to have locked onto her.
Prithivi can easily sense that there's a person in front of her, although the details aren't very clear. The heartbeat, the weight this person has on the ground, all of THAT shows up clearly.
And beyond her, that giant creature is ALSO visible, this one in sharp detail, and she can see and feel it turning around towards them.
She reacts, now. Try to pull this person away from the thing charging at them, and get her out of the way. Argilla clamps down on Prithivi's instincts when her arm shoots out at Maka, to try and wrap around her and yank her back. No blades or claws; she wants to help whoever this is, not make a meal out of them.]
[oh no, Maka thinks, it did notice her. it had no eyes to speak of, but it probably didn't even need that much. she had to get away before this creature did something-- or the other one nearby found them.
her breathing had froze just like the rest of her body, but finally, her foot slid back slowly in hopes that taking caution over sudden movements would work in her favor. slowly, slowly... that's all she needed, and then she could get away when she made it far enough away.
but the demon acted suddenly, and although Maka jerked further back, she could feel something wrap around her, and before she knew it she was being pulled forward. needless to say, there was an audible outcry coming from her that could be heard through the dinosaur's sharp roars.]
[This would work a lot better if the person she was trying to pull out of the way wasn't struggling and yelling. The dinosaur bearing down on them doesn't help either, and she gives a frustrated growl. Then in another moment, Prithivi gives a violent yank with her extended arm, and shoots her other out towards the T. rex in a violent casting motion.
Now, the animal suddenly has to worry about a sharp collection of stones suddenly sticking out in the ground between it and them. That slows it down, and she turns her attention back to Maka.]
"Hurry!"
[The word slips out of one mouth, but it sounds ragged, and mixed with a low snarl as well. Not the most convincing sound to get someone to cooperate.]
[Maka had to take a quick moment to not only consider what was being said to her, but realize that the demon had said anything at all. she was being pulled away, but not to her demise; no, it was away from danger.
'hurry'? was this thing... helping her?
no time to mull on it, she thinks-- she was given the opportunity to run, and there was no way Maka was going to waste it. giving one last glance at the scene before them-- the dinosaur, the... whatever had just been used against it-- the girl turns and bolts.]
[She's running away from the threat, so that's good. Prithivi's arm loosens, and drops off of her as she starts to run.
...And then, she starts to follow at a distance. As long as the dinosaur is more focused on getting those shards of rock out of it's feet instead of attacking, she's ready to slip away as well.
Again, Argilla feels like she's just hanging onto her demon and pulling her back. Seeing something running from her makes her want to run after it faster, and ideally run it down as well.]
[after sprinting for ages-- or it felt like it, at any rate-- Maka finally slowed her pace down. there wasn't any more rumbling from heavy stomps and no more ear piercing roars, so for now-- it was safe. Maka leaned over, kneeling an arm against the trunk of yet another tree, and attempted to catch her breath.]
There's no end to those things...
[really now, was she just going to end up running for her life for the entire time? just where was the one person she needed the most!
Maka craned her head over her shoulder, looking back in the direction she came from. another question was, what was that thing? it couldn't have been a threat if it had just tried to save her, but it sure did look creepy enough to be one.]
[The downside of practicing restraint is that sometimes, the thing getting chased has a much better chance of getting away completely. The weird-creepy-demon in question is now moving much more slowly, and trying to pick up the trail again. But without anything like a strong scent, fresh blood, or the like, that isn't very successful.
She still stalks forward, carefully, although if she doesn't detect something (and since there aren't any tyrannosaurs around) it might not be long before she switches to a form that isn't clamoring to hunt.]
[minutes pass, and while she could still feel her heart racing, Maka's slowly regaining her breath. enough to stand upright, at any rate, and yet she's still staring hard into the area behind her in case something appears again. more minutes come and go, and she still can't notice anything.
until the faint hint of a wavelength suddenly crops up, and Maka perks up the second she senses it, concentrating harder; it was... thankfully, no dinosaur (there were enough of those going around that she quickly learned what type of wavelengths those had), nor normal animal-- it was faintly familiar, but nothing she could immediately pinpoint.
cautious herself, Maka decides to make her way through the foliage and back in the direction she came. curiosity gets the better of her, and if it was that thing that had helped her back there, she wouldn't have minded coming across it again.]
[Nothing. She can't pick out where that person might have gone while Prithivi is pulling on her thoughts. She stops moving forward, pausing midstep as pink trails of light start to spill over her legs and arms.
Prithivi shrinks away in her mind as she shifts back, letting Argilla have full control again but also leaving her with large, yawning gap in her stomach. It's enough that she staggers for a moment as her legs twist back into their normal shape, making plenty of noise.]
[Maka decides to move faster when she feels something shift within the wavelength; it didn't become any fainter, although she did notice it getting weaker. perhaps it was a good sign-- she didn't have to worry about something even stronger being out there in lieu of what she was hoping to find.
after a bit of walking, she hears movements among the plants. a few more bushes out of the way, and she finds someone.]
...
[but not quite who she was looking for. she recognizes this woman from before, definitely, although... Maka frowns. something seems a little off.]
[That faint bit of pink light clinging to her hair, clothes, and skin might have something to do with that. She doesn't look like a human-shaped black hole by now, though; just a slightly winded person catching her breath, and getting the rest of those lines to die down.
She looks up when she hears someone walking closer, though, and her eyes widen when she sees who it is.]
[... weird, she thinks, but Maka doesn't comment on it yet. the woman looks as worn out as she had been just minutes ago. instead, she nods slowly in response, regarding her with the faintest of puzzled looks.]
Yeah, I'm... I'm okay. Was something after you, too?
[Argilla nods as she straightens up, and some of those lines start to fade. Her breath is coming more easily now, and although she puts a hand out to steady herself, resting against one of those convenient trees.]
"I don't think we have to worry about it, though."
[she continues to watch for a moment longer, but Maka can't decide whether she should ask about it or not. a good portion of the people and beings here were capable of all sorts of strange stuff-- this was probably related to one of those things.]
For now, it seems. I've been trying to avoid things like that all week-- they're everywhere.

"I've fought demons close to that size before...But never something that looked like that."
