It occurred to the woman as she related her tale in vivid detail to the Inspector, just how odd a feeling it was to suddenly be free of the secret she had held on to and protected so fiercely for so many months. Naomi held no regret that she had finally confessed to the crooked detective's guilt, but it was still strange to know she'd entirely be rid of him. She'd lost interest in him long ago, but it wasn't until his latest dream that she decided to cut all ties. His jokes had always been a little strange, but the insane laughter she had heard from him really put her off. There was something deeply wrong with the man (or so she wanted to believe) and she wanted out before she became a victim again

Javert arched a brow at Naomi and waited for her to complete her signature before choosing to respond, a hint of amusement in his tone.
"No."
He took the plank and paper, spun it back around and added his own John Hancock to the bottom of the page. A signing of the date, and Tohru Adachi's fate was sealed. Javert folded the report in thirds and tucked it delicately inside a plain white envelope.
"I had... a hunch the information would find me." Javert smirked grimly, his head cocked to the side like an intrigued cocker spaniel. In any other context, with any other man or woman, it would appear as a very coquettish expression. The man was in very good spirits, there was no mistake about that. "Sooner or later. And if it hadn't, there is no fault in keeping secrets

It was strange to see the man so happy. Was this how he always acted when he had come to the end of an investigation? When the arrest was the only part left? Maybe if he actually was able to bring more criminals to justice, he wouldn't even need the anti-depressants she had given him for Christmas.
Moving to stand up beside him at the motion, she only raised a slender eyebrow at the small change of expression on the man's face.
"A detour? But you already have me alone right here..." She was only teasing, of course. Naomi knew better than to expect an actual response to her fake flirting.
