Naoya had, after his talk with Laharl, put the furniture back in this apartment. After all, he felt with Break he could afford a much more subtle approach...since Break actually seemed to have an intellect surpassing that of a daisy.

He smirked some as he heard the knock on the door, opening the door and staring down at Break (being ridiculously tall was always a lovely advantage), gesturing for him to come inside.

"You made good time."

Break seemed unruffled by the difference in height, as he tended to be. At this point in time, there were more important things on the agenda.

He smirked in response, stepping inside without a moments hesitation or concern, cane swinging lackadaisically with his arm.

"It was not a particularly difficult trip," Break replied simply over his shoulder, smirk unwavering.

"I see. That's good." Naoya watched him, before moving back into the living room to take a seat. How to go about this...

"If you'll forgive me, I'm going to cut to the chase. From what I've seen, my true name currently doesn't have much weight to you, does it?"

Break followed into the living room, taking his own seat and sitting on it cross-legged, simply because sitting in a chair in the normal way was entirely beyond him. He leaned forward slightly, smirk widening.

Ah hah. So this was indeed very important, for Naoya to go straight to the problem like so.

"It does not," Break responded flippantly, "Though I do believe it is safe to assume that it holds a very large meaning to quite a few people in Somarium."

"It means quite a lot to me--I couldn't care less about other people." Naoya laughed, but his eyes, that same bright red as Break's, never left the other man. Now, let's see what would happen.

"Some time ago, the library here was ransacked...I don't believe you'll be able to find what my name means anymore without asking someone who knows. In which case, I have a proposal to make."

Break was entirely aware of the ransacking of the library, and he nodded with rather out of place cheerfulness, not at all minding the sharp red eyes on him. He fixed his one-eyed gaze right back on the other, tilting his head with (mock?) attentiveness.

He did so love proposals.

"Oh? And what might that be?" Break asked simply in response.

"I can tell you the significance of my name...in my world, or in just about any world with the Abrahamic religions. But not for free."

Naoya's smirk grew a little sharper, and he leaned on the arm of his chair, face resting in one hand. He seemed relaxed for all the world, almost...uncaring. But oh, how far from the truth that was.

"In return, you'd have to tell me your real name, and it's significance. A fair trade, as it were."

In the other chair, Break planted both sleeve-covered hands on his shoes and smiled an entirely pleasant smile.

"It would indeed be a fair trade." That much he would concede. But then he continued, smile still entirely kind and pleasant, "However, I am rather certain it would not be difficult in the least to find someone who knows the meaning of your name. For your home world is Earth, is it not?"

He chuckled. "I've found that a surprising number of people have come from said world."

He tilted his head and gave Naoya an amused look with one slightly narrowed red eye. "So I am sure you will understand when I say that it would hardly be worth my while to accept such a trade."

"There are quite a few who do know the theoretical significance of my name. But there are no others who know the whole truth and would tell it to you. Are you really willing to settle for hearsay, Xerxes Break?"

He would have expected nothing less from the man. He wouldn't have wanted this to be easy.

"Besides, by the same token...I am sure I know one person who would be more than happy to tell me your identity on his own terms, instead of yours."

So Naoya knew Vincent Nightray. That was hardly surprising, truly. Break would have, perhaps, been somewhat disappointed in the other had he not discovered that much.

But he chuckled. "Ah, and then you would need to settle for hearsay as well, and what a shame that would be."

He shrugged dramatically, sleeves flopping with the movement.

This was most certainly the most useful opportunity, as far as learning more about Naoya was concerned, but it all depended on how much information he had to give in return. Information exchange? Well, it was not something Break was simply about to allow pass by.

"Well, well~ Perhaps such an exchange will be possible, then."

Excellent. Naoya's smirk grew into a smile, although the expression was still far from pleasant. He closed his eyes, chuckling a bit to himself.

"Very well, then...First, just your real name, that we might be on the same page...and then I'd have to ask where you'd like me to start."

He wouldn't lie, not at all. He rarely did. But if Break asked the wrong questions, he wasn't going to fill in what he forgot to ask.

Similarly, Break rarely truly lied...But he saw no problems with walking the fine line between half-truths and half-lies. This exchange was to be a delicate one, and Break would have it no other way. It was a bit of a challenge, wasn't it?

"Ah, of course. It is quite important to begin this exchange on level ground."

Break tilted his head, smirked a sharp expression and continued, "Well, then, to be even, my real name is Kevin."

Fair was fair. Cain for Kevin. Kevin for Cain. There was no need for anything more. And so Break continued after the slightest of pauses--a pause dedicated to retrieving a piece of candy and beginning to unwrap it, the crinkle of wrapper providing a counterpoint to his lilting tone--saying, "Well, then, why not begin simply? What is the significance of your true name?"

"Simple. I am the first murderer. I gave the Lord God, Yahweh, the blood he asked for and was cursed for it."

Kevin...but it wasn't his full name. Fair enough...he would have a hard time convincing Break that he'd been born long before last names had even been conceived. He'd work something out. Naoya crossed his legs, watching the other albino with something akin to disinterest.

"Now it's my turn--why were you in--" What had they called it? "The Abyss?"

It was unfortunate, how little transferred over worlds. If the library hadn't been ransacked, Break likely would have spent a great deal of his time studying up on the planet that it appeared the majority of the people came from. There were too many parallels for him to dismiss the thought that there was some connection there. Well, the library was now useless, but he was not about to let that stop him from further studying this.

And so he let the somewhat vague answer go.

"I was brought there," Break answered in turn, tilting his head and putting the lollipop in his mouth. It was most certainly true; he had not been there by choice.

"And what does a curse consist of in your world?" Disinterest was simple; Break responded easily with overly cheery mock interest.

"It depends widely on the curse, and who is doing the cursing. It could range from anywhere to an uncanny series of misfortune, to a most horrific death, to anything in between."

Naoya was not the sort to fake interest...he found that sort of thing distasteful, and at his age he really couldn't even be bothered to

Some habits were hard to break, and all of the pieces that made up his facade the hardest of all.

Break smiled. "I see. Perhaps I should have asked instead what your curse consists of."
