Aya couldn't believe it: the very next day. It was ironic enough to make her feel ill, but she pushed it down as well as she could. She wasn't looking forward to telling Ace he'd actually just missed his brother, but she knew she ( Read more... )

Ace was still busy trying to make sense of all this, especially seeing as he was meant to be on an execution platform in Marineford, two Marines in front of him waiting for the signal and Sengoku next to him after his announcement to the entire world. At least Luffy was here though and that was a weight off his mind; why wouldn't worrisome little brothers listen to their older brothers?

Lost in his thoughts, he turned quickly upon hearing a voice and smiled, bowing deeply in return.

"That's fine, I'm Portgas D. Ace, Luffy's older brother," he straightened up and smiled at her, "Very nice too meet you too."

Aya straightened as well, getting her first good look at the young man in the process. She wouldn't have guessed on sight that he'd be so well-mannered. He seemed like he ought to be some concoction of boyish badass and shameless dork. Not that anyone could know a person by appearances alone, but it was still a curious juxtaposition.

"You must have a lot of questions about this place. I'll answer them as well as I can. There's a cafe on the way to the lake; we can stop there for some food."

Food definitely sounded like a good idea; when had he last had a decent meal? He smiled and nodded at her though, running his hands through his hair when he went to tip back the hat that wasn't there anymore. Maybe he could find a new one along the way.

"That'd be great. This...this is definitely a weird place to wake up in." He looked over to the scarecrow he'd spoken to - or was it at? - upon waking up. "And I'll never say no to the offer of food, that's something Luffy and I have in common."

Aya smiled. She hadn't had the opportunity to see just how much Luffy could pack away, but she made a mental note of it, just in case he ever came back. After all... Ken had come back after just two weeks, right? It wasn't wrong to hope.

She motioned for Ace to follow her down one of the paths. "It is weird when you first get here, but you get used to it. At the very least, it's easy to adjust to the lack of currency. You can't complain about everything being free."
