[Alice is playing with Basil at her little desk. The dark wood table is covered in papers with pictures and calligraphy as well as idle French phrases and grammar. She has colored pencils in a bright blue tin box with clouds on it. She is just enjoying a bright cheerful day after the long repeating nightmares and that warehouse.]
Well what shall we do today Basil?
[She wiggles Basil's paws and makes the little padded hands cover his eyes.]
Don't hide silly darling!
[She made the little rabbit lift one paw, peeking out a little and she giggled.]
Well there you are. I thought you had hidden away. You hid in a den on such a pretty day. Are you scared a fox or hawk might take you away?
[She made Basil nod his head and she kissed his nose.]
Poor little rabbit. I don't know what it's like to be a rabbit I'm afraid. Though I think I would like having your ears very much. They're darling ears you know.
[She made him raise his hands in the air as if exclaiming in joy.]
Oh yes. They're very adorable. Can I tell you a secret? [She giggled and leaned in close as if there were other people in the room.] I would very much like to have ears and a tail. [She whispered and she made Basil put a paw in front of his nose as if scandalized.] Oh but I would! I think they're very lovely things. But shh [She put a finger to her lips and moved Basil's paw in front of his mouth accordingly.] You mustn't tell bunny-dear.
Now [She turned back to the table and placed a colored pencil in Basil's paw.] what shall I teach you today Basil? Shall I teach you more French? Or perhaps we should have art today.
