Gojyo saw a guy who looked sort of familiar enter the bar, and when he spoke, the redhead waved him over, gesturing to an empty seat next to him with his half-smoked cigarette.

"Gojyo. And yours?"

"Kariya." He did a vague sort of salute before taking to the stool. Another glance around the place revealed the tavern to be relatively full.

"I actually expected a lot more people than this," he commented, leaning back against the counter. "Guess not that many people here take to drowning out the sorrows of singlehood with a couple of beers."

"Maybe most of them all paired off," Gojyo suggested. "It's not like there's that many people here, right?" That had been his understanding of the place so far. The city wasn't infinitely big after all.

The redhead took a long drag from his cigarette and blew out the smoke slowly. "At least there's less people in line for the alcohol."

"Ah, nicely put," he replied, feeling somewhat lazy. "A line would've been hell to wait on."

Might as well order now. He turned in his seat to examine the different bottles on display. Hmmm, nothing was familiar to him; he only ever drank when he felt like it, and that didn't happen too often. He didn't even know why he even wanted a drink today.

Giving up, he turned to his companion. "Say, any of those drinks worth recommending?"

"The beer in the brown bottle's alright," Gojyo said, lifting his to show off the bottle. "I haven't had any of the others yet." He'd been content with just drinking the one brand and hoping it wouldn't get him too drunk. It didn't have a really strong taste, and fuck him up the ass if he came home late and trashed for whatever the hell was going to happen.

He shrugged. "I just asked for beer and the guy gave me this one."

"Aight then. I'll have what he's having," he said to the bartender, who nodded and disappeared under the counter.

"So." He turned his attention back to the other redhead, resting his cheek on one hand, elbow propped against the bar. "Any profound reason why you're here?"

Gojyo shrugged in response to the question. He didn't really want to go into detail about the real reason he was hiding in a bar. "Not really. Just what I usually do when there's nothing else going on. Might as well drink and smoke."

Kariya sank down deeper against the bar, his expression that of disappointment. This conversation wasn't starting off too promising.

Humor a guy a little, huh? I walked a ways to get here. There's no way it'll be worth anything if I don't hear a decent story or two."
