The ship was gone. His companions were gone. Ryld was... Ryld... As the thoughts processed in Pharaun's mind, the drow turned in a slow circle, studying his nauseatingly picturesque surroundings. The ground was... disgustingly white, at best, and there was plant life scattered here and there that he wasn't very familiar with beyond the most basic of names. A tree here, a bush there... Pharaun recognized what they were, though he did not know their particular species. He had to squint his eyes against the brightness of day and the hated glare of the snow. With the surface now a distance memory behind him and his eyes once again adjusted to the unending gloom of the Underdark, Pharaun found the light to be offensive. Pulling the hood of his piwafwi low over his face helped alleviate the pain only a little.
The cloak was black, shot through with lines of purple and red, and though the hood blocked out part of his peripheral vision, Pharaun trusted the armored piwafwi and his other defenses to protect him from any attack from behind. A frown turned down the corners of his handsome black face as he pondered his current location. It looked somewhat similar to one or two of the smaller surface towns he had been in before, at least so far as the buildings appeared to be made of similar materials and in a similar style.
Pharaun shook his head and sighed. He could not hear or see his companions, so it looked as though he was alone here, wherever it was that "here" happened to be. Anything else could wait until he had his current situation sorted, so the Master of Sorcere pushed his concerns and unwanted thoughts out of his mind with a simple exercise of his will. Answers would not be found by standing still in the frigid air, so the wizard straightened his pack on his back and set off in search of answers.
