As she looked around at her new surroundings, one hand held up to shield her eyes against the sunlight, one thing was painfully clear: she certainly wasn't anywhere near her beloved little schoolhouse any longer.
Yoko's lips flattened in a thin line as she eyed the tall buildings. They seemed so similar to the buildings in Kamina City, and yet, at the same time... they were completely different. And there were no people bustling about the street in which she stood; in Kamina City, be it day or night, there were always people. While Yoko could normally do without so many people crowded in such a relatively small space, she wouldn't complain at all if someone--anyone--would pop out in front of her. She had to figure out where she was, and how she had gotten there. After all, the night before, she had simply gone to bed in her small, rebuilt home, resting up for the first day of school... which was that very morning. But instead of standing at her chalkboard, Yoko was standing in the middle of a strange new place, wearing clothes that were certainly not what she had worn to bed and toting the rifle she had certainly not gone to bed with.
Her eyes narrowed as she glanced back up at the sun, hanging in the sky above her. She needed to find a way back to her island, and she needed to find a way back as soon as she possibly could. She had a school full of children waiting for her, after all, eager to hear of the Dai-Gurren Brigade's victory over the Anti-Spirals and of her participation in it. And she had lessons to begin, and reading to assign, and the first homework of the year to give out....
"...No," she muttered, turning slightly. "I certainly can't disappoint the children, now can I?"
Sparing one last look at the sun, she began heading down the empty street. She didn't know where she was, she didn't know where was going, and she didn't know what to expect... but no matter what was thrown her way, she knew one thing for certain: she would find a way back to her children.
She had to.
