Subaru wakes up to another morning. So the world has not ended today. Not that it matters to him anyway.
Getting up, he wakes to the bathroom to wash up before returning to his daily chores of folding up the futon, making breakfast. It is a while before he sits down, facing the garden where the sakura and tsubaki, two seasonal flowers, are blooming at the same time. It is only in the Sakurazuka family home that such a thing is possible.
The sakura whispers to him in the voices of the dead, souls begging to be set free. But he only lights a cigarette, takes a drag and exhales.
"I can't do that," he says with a sad smile. "I'm trapped here too."
