Where: Center of Espoir
Style: Either!

Spencer opened his eyes groggily. His apartment was so cold…Had the heating broke down again? As he sat down in the snow, he realized that he wasn’t where he thought he should be. At least, he was dressed in a warm ( Read more... )

Flynn shivered despite the warm trench coat and heavy, leather gloves he wore. Around his neck was a blue scarf that matched his eyes and hair well, and his boots were plenty warm. Despite that, the cold weather was still able to bite his body through the winter wear. He sighed, but blinked when he saw a young man standing in shock on the street. Flynn frowned, unsure of what to think of the man’s clothes, but saw that he seemed relatively harmless ( ... )

Spencer turned around to face the young man hailing him. He pondered his words for a moment. How could he be new 'here' when this was obviously a disillusion he was having? He couldn't be new in his own mind, right?

"Soma-rium, you say? I suppose it's fitting to call this after a Persian drink that was said to 'bring you closer to the Gods' without having to actually die...." he muttered to himself mostly.

He then reached for his credentials out of habit and showed them to Flynn:

"I'm Dr. Spencer Reid, from the BAU at the FBI..." he gave the blond man a small, awkward smile.

Flynn read the credentials, but he had no idea what he was really reading. He hadn't heard of the FBI or BAU. What the Commandant could tell, was that it seemed like a government organization. He still had no clue what the FBI or BAU do, unfortunately. Flynn wasn't sure if he should ask him, since Spencer seemed disbelieving of what was around him. He had to admit that he had felt the same way about this place at first.

"It's a pleasure to meet you, Dr Spencer," he said sincerely with an encouraging smile, "I know this place seems kind of...unbelievable, but what you're seeing is all real."

Flynn spoke while looking the man in the eye, completely relaxed. He then tilted his head a little, deciding that perhaps Spencer should be the one to ask the questions. Gods knew that the other man probably had quite a few.

"Tell me. Are there any questions you would like to ask of me, or about this place?"

Spencer took a long look at Flynn. It had been written all over the young man's face that he had no idea what was the BAU and it seemed even less what was the FBI. Was the young man from another country? Or had his own mind chose to forget his work for his own sake?

Still as he observed the blond more closely, Reid started to think that the young man was truly believing that this world was real. As with any UnSub, the profiler chose to play along, in order to be able to get as much information about this disillusion as he could.

"So...if this world is real....how was I able to come here? Last thing I remember is being in the hospital with Morgan...."

"I only have a guess, but Somarium is a 'Dream World.' I think it would be safe to say that you enter this world through your dreams," Flynn sighed a little before continuing, "Unfortunately, not many of us can escape this place. So, we've been making Somarium our temporary, or sometimes permanent, home."

He took a moment to let the information sink in before saying anything else. Flynn honestly didn't want to overwhelm the man. However, he felt that it might take quite a bit to overwhelm Spencer.

"I'll admit that I'm new here as well, but...I want to help you out as best as I can," Flynn told him in honesty.

So he had fallen asleep. This was making sense.

"What happens when we wake up? Or am I not waking up anytime soon?"

Not being able to leave this world was, for the moment, not important to him. He knew his team would find him and get him out of here, they had successfully done it many times in the past. Perhaps he was relying on them too heavily, but when told that you are trapped somewhere, believing in your team mate was the only thing left to do.

Taking out Hotch's phone out of his pocket again, he showed it to Flynn:

"This is not my usual phone. It looks more like my team leader's one. But I can't get any service and for some reason, there's no numbers I can dial, all I have is a contact list. Is this normal?"

Flynn thought about that for a moment. It was a good question, really, but he didn't think he had an adequate answer for it. He frowned a little before giving his two cents.

"I'm not entirely sure. There are some people who have been around for a year or more, but I think that if you wake up, you'll most likely be back home," he shrugged, "It's only a guess, I'm afraid."

The blond knight glanced at the phone.

"Everyone gets these upon entering Somarium," he explained, "It's called a Dreamberry, and it allows you to communicate through videos, voices, and text. Everyone here has everyone else's phone number, but...Dreamberries have another function. They broadcast your dreams to everyone's Dreamberry, whether you want to or not. I've heard that there are filters for dreams, but they can be a little...unreliable at times."

Spencer mused over Flynn's words: "So what appears to us to be a days, weeks or even months is in fact only one night?"

Somehow, as much as he wanted to go home, knowing that nothing would change in his world while he was in this weird world calmed him down significantly.

As he continued to listen to the blond man's explanations, it was easy to see that he felt torn about the special function of the Dreamberry. While being able to see everyone's dream would help him to understand better the people of this world, a profiler's dream come true after all, he wasn't feeling comfortable with sharing his. Not only he was prone to have nightmares more than normal dreams, they usually involved cases he had worked on. And he didn't want to reveal personal details about victims he helped save or about the UnSubs the team managed to catch.

"Really? That's....how's that even possible?"

"I'm not sure," Flynn said with a shrug and a sigh. He scratched the back of his head, knowing that it could be uncomfortable to have dreams displayed for all to see. The Commandant shivered a little, the cold finally catching up to him. He hugged his chest, and gave a sheepish chuckle.

"My apologies, but perhaps we should find someplace warm to continue our discussion." He smiled a little. "If you'd like, we could head over to the cafe."

Spencer's eyes nearly lit up in joy at the mention of a coffee shop. He didn't felt the cold that much, probably because he had lots of layers underneath his coat, but the idea of a sugarful cup of coffee was too nice to pass out.

"I think it would be a nice idea. I suppose I should let you lead the way?" he said with a small sheepish smile.

"It isn't too far, thankfully," Flynn commented with a smile as he led the way, his pace slower than usual to stay side-by-side with the young man. It then occurred to him that perhaps Spencer didn't know about the fact that most people in Somariums were from different worlds. He frowned, debating whether or not to bring this up.

May as well warn him now.... He decided after a moment.

"Perhaps I should have warned you sooner, but most of the people here have been taken from different worlds."
