Rise had been going down the stairs to get herself a glass of water when she overheard Harley's upset tone. It took her a moment before she realized that he was talking to someone over the Dreamberry. She hadn't meant to eavesdrop, especially when the topic sounded so

He let his breath out slowly, a long sigh as he tried to relax again, and rubbed his eyes. Still leaking a little.

"Yeah," he said, quiet.

The Dreamberry was returned to his pocket before he turned to face her. She looked so... what was the term? Worried. He tried giving her a little smile, hoping to see a hint of one in return. "....I'm all right. Just a..." an argument? Disagreement? "Just trying to talk to someone. I don't think we really get each other very well."

If she had a handkerchief or some tissue, she would've offered it to him to wipe his tears. Deciding that it was probably best not to mention it, especially because he didn't really like it when people cried, she made her way to the couch and took a seat at his side.

She placed her palms on her knees before shifting to look at him, a small faint smile gracing her lips for a moment. "Yeah, it didn't sound like it."

It was likely that he now knew that she had been listening in, but she pushed on anyway. "What were you guys were talking about anyway?"

He didn't answer at first, trying to figure out how to best explain it. "I was talking to Jinana, and...."

Crud, how did it start, again?

"I don't think she knows me as well as she thinks. Or she doesn't know the Embryon that well. Or maybe I just didn't explain it right, to her. Or... I don't even know. But she seems to think I'm like them. I tried explaining why that's wrong, and she tells me I don't listen. She thinks they're so great, even after I told her exactly what they've done..."

He folded his arms, sinking back against the couch and regarding his knees sullenly. "...And she says I'm the one that doesn't get it."

"Was she from the Junkyard as well?" She only asked that because she was unsure whether this Jinana person had met the Embryon here or back from their world. For all she knew, there might've been someone who was actually in good terms with them.

It was clear that Harley himself still didn't get along with the Embryon and Rise couldn't blame him for that. They had eaten him after all. She shuddered visibly, the thought still way too dreadful to dwell on but immediately brushed it aside.

Her eyes followed him as he leaned back on the couch. "Have you at least heard her side? Maybe there's a reason why she trusts them that you don't know about..."
