It was a typical day for Boris, doing plenty of... absolutely nothing. Not that he was happy with such a thing, he was actually quite bored. And it was in pursuit for some amusement that he found himself wandering into the Shopping District, even though he didn't really need anything. Passing by a couple windows full of clothes that he'd never think of anyone wearing and... he had a good laugh at that.
Wasn't too long before he noticed that he was not alone in this Shopping District, and as he took notice of Chii, he waved in her direction, "Chiiiiiiiii~!" Maybe some company would help brighten his day a little.
At that moment, Boris was of the opinion that he would probably see nothing cuter in his entire stay at Somarium. Laughing, he walked towards her and voice his curiosities, "Hey there! What're you up to?"
Chii took her finger and pointed to the stores she had passed by. "Chii is looking for some new clothes in these places. But Chii does not know which store to look in."
His gaze follows her finger and he tilts his head curiously, "You're... planning on going shopping around here, Chii? These are some pretty weird clothes..."
"These clothes are...weird? Is weird not a good thing?" Of course, Chii had never picked out any of her outfits out herself so she really didn't know what was cute and what wasn't .
"Weird is a good thing!" and he says that automatically, without even thinking that it might collide with his previous statement. But as he thinks things through a bit more, he considers his words, "It's just... I don't see most people wearing these clothes. But hey, whatever floats your boat. Need some company for your shopping?"
Floats your boat? Chii stared at him in confusion for a moment on that comment. She was tempted to ask what exactly he meant considering she didn't have a boat but decided to just ignore it. Instead she just smiled and nodded.
He looked at her curiously for a couple seconds. Chii was really considerate, he decided. Did she have a heart too? It seems that all the nice people that he met were the ones with hearts. But he kept that thought to himself as his train of thought quickly moved on, "Ahaha, you're really cute, Chii. Let's get going then?"
Motioning for her to lead the way, he admitted, "Shopping's not really my thing, though. So show me the ropes?"
A lot of people seemed to say that about her, that she was "cute". Hideki had called her that once before, and it always made her happy to hear people call her that since it reminded her of that time.
But again, Chii has to tilt her head in confusion at Boris's figure of speech. "Show you the ropes?"
"Really? Boris will be willing to teach Chii?" Chii clapped her hands together in excitement and gave him a big smile. It always made her happy to be able to learn new things because that meant that she would be able to understand the world better. And if she understood everything better maybe she would be able to help out those she cared for better.
Her reaction to his statement was far more enthusiastic than he had expected. Scratching the back of his head, he gave her a confused look for a while. Would he ever be able to piece together what was going on in her head? Most people tended to yell at him for taking such initiative. But instead he shrugged, before matching her smile with one of his own, "No 'thank you' necessary. Not a big deal."

"People don't use many turns of phrase-- er, that is... You don't know a lot about figurative language, do you, Chii?"

... but considering this was Chii...
He offered her a reassuring grin instead, "Then leave it to the amazing Boris to teach you things as we go along. I'm not taking 'no' for an answer!"
