For a castle no living being's been around for a long time (as far as he knows,) everything is strangely cobweb-free.

A Danny in ghost form floats gently above the largest of the room's long tables, looking around. There are several chandeliers around the room--the mission statement said that the clue would be in one of them. But which one?

He's just drifting towards the nearest one when the room's doors open unexpectedly. Jumpy even without an unknown ghostish-kid-killing threat around, Danny whirls around to face them, bringing his hands up immediately.

"Who's there?! Oh." ... Wait a second--"You!"

For the first time since they began wandering around, Maka flinched in place, startled by the sudden voice that called out. It had been so quiet, save for the occasional murmurs made by Soul or herself, that she hadn't been expecting another to come up.

Maka recognized him right away the moment her eyes snapped in the voice's direction; it was that boy again, and belatedly she realized she had never caught his name from before. Then again, he seemed to have wanted to leave fairly quickly from last time, so it probably hadn't crossed either of their minds.

Either way, Maka gave him the same blank yet surprised expression, lowering her guard with her partner; he wasn't a threat, she knew, otherwise she would have noticed as much from when they met. "... You again," she echoed as well, glancing between Soul and him for a moment.

The red and black blade flashed, and reflected in its scuff-free surface was the head and shoulders of a boy with white hair, though there was no present figure to reflect. "You know each other?"

--not entirely unreasonable, given how easy it was to meet people in Somarium, especially if one was interested in doing so. It was kind of surprising to see that Danny could fly, though. That was certainly a new development. The altered color scheme was pretty interesting, too, but they weren't there to discuss aesthetics, so Soul decided to let that thought go.

"This makes things easier. I'm guessing you found out about the whole murder thing, too, right?"

Glowing eyes watch her a moment longer, before Soul speaks up. Then they snap towards to the scythe, noticing and recognizing him for the first time. In that instant his tention somehow goes up a whole few notches. "Uh... Y-yeah, I guess." Danny smiles nervously. More importantly, does Soul know him?

Will his secret make it out of this intact?

Torn between making a hasty getaway and trying to fix what somehow already looks like a looming disaster, Danny glances from the scythe to the girl. "Yeah, I, uh, did. Why? And--sorry, do I know you?" Please say no please say no...

"Um, sort of," was her tentative response to Soul, and she raised an eyebrow at the familiarity in his tone. Maka was about to wonder the same thing herself before Danny interjected again, asking the same question.

... Well, needless to say, this had gotten a little confusing; but there was something suspicious, because instead of curiosity the boy was backpedaling again, all anxious and awkward once more. Was he always like this, or had the shock of the murder gotten to him? After all, if a bunch of Halloween decorations managed to spook him, then an actual killing could do far worse.

Maka decided she'd wait for Soul's answer before jumping to any further conclusions.

What was with the sudden awkwardness? It was like he was horrified anyone had managed to make the connection between his seemingly-human, normal-colored self, and this floating fluorescent one. This was already a strange place. It wasn't as though Danny needed to fear being the odd one out in what was already essentially a contest of the abnormal.

"Of course I know you," Soul answered, obviously somewhat amused by the prospect of a flaily negative reaction. "The fact that you swapped colors didn't make me blind. What's the big deal, though?"

Danny cringes as Soul rolls his hopes up and drop-kicks them unceremoniously away. This... is already turning into the disaster he'd sensed coming.

"O-of--course...," Danny says, sounding (and looking) pained. "You're not... Nothing, forget it." Looking fairly deflated, Danny sinks in the air until his toes are just brushing the top of the table.

And up went the other eyebrow; he wasn't even trying to hide his disappointment, and now it became clear-- he didn't want Soul to recognize him, for whatever reason he had.

In the meantime, though, and despite his words to simply forget it, Maka couldn't help but be concerned. Apparently, they had stepped into territory they weren't supposed to find.

"Is everything okay?" she asked, puzzlement clear on her face; whatever it was, she was awfully curious about it.

Watching Danny almost literally deflate was a little too sad to be amusing. Clearly not being found out was really significant for some reason, even though his true identity had been pretty obvious.

"Hey, if it's that important to you, we won't tell anybody," the scythe then offered in an attempt to make Danny seem a little less pathetic. It wasn't as though other people would really have a hard time figuring out on their own, anyway... "Besides, we really should be looking out for whatever killed that kid instead of mooching around. We don't want it killing anything else."

"Sure, sure everything's fine..."

"Uh--yes! I mean, yeah. It is important. Please, seriously don't mention it to anyone." Danny says, 'standing' a little straighter at the offer.

He runs gloved fingers through his hair, trying to push the shock of his discovery aside to focus. There's no time to waste worrying over that--they can deal with it afterwards, but for now, Precious is already dead. "Yeah... we should be. Were you guys looking for clues, too?"

Maka still wasn't entirely sure what was going on; there wasn't anything off or different about the boy from the last time she came across him, although Soul did notice something was-- he mentioned something about... colors? She didn't want to ask now, especially when Danny was already looking so uncomfortable, so she simply shot her partner a discreet, pointed look. Later, after all this was over, she'd just get the details from Soul.

He was right, though-- they had to get back on track, they didn't have the time to be wasting on secrets when it could be dealt with later. A determined expression fell on Maka's features once more.

"That's right, we were," Maka confirmed, scanning across the large room as she tried to recall the details made on the Dreamberry notice. One of them did mention something about a dining hall, right? "Apparently, all we have to do is find these coins that were mentioned. It's a little suspicious it sounds so easy, but so far it's all we have to go on, unless we discover something more ( ... )

[[OOC: Will be able to tag with you guys on Thursday night if you're around. :>]]

Considering previous feats, Soul didn't doubt that he and Maka wouldn't have any trouble reaching said point, but the fact of the matter was that they could end up breaking it in the process. That... might not be acceptable here.

"Everything here is suspicious anyway, Maka," Soul said, eyeing the chandelier. "Since Danny can already fly, though, he might as well be the one to check it out."

It really did seem too easy, but they were lacking in information otherwise, so it was worth trying.

"Yeah, pretty much," he agrees. "And yeah, that's what I was doing when you both walked in." Already he's floating back up, twisting around to look at the largest chandelier. There are several others in the room, but this one has a conspicuous place of honor above the table. It's a simple matter for him to float towards it, peering closely in from above.

"... It's not in here," Danny mutters, wasting no time in turning and flying to the next nearest one. It must be empty too, because he turns and flies to the next.

"I've got it!" He reaches in, and a second later he's floating back down, holding up a large, softly-glowing coin. "... This is a clue?"

Maka watched Danny as he floated to and fro above them, wishing hard he'd have success; they already spent so much time looking with none whatsoever that she was going to be more than disappointed if this was another dead end.

But thankfully, he did find something, and Maka lit up brightly at the find.

"Great!" she chirped, immediately stepping toward where Danny was landing. Maka only took a short minute to admire its glow before she stared up in thought. "It should be," she replied, pulling out her Dreamberry again to confirm the facts.

It in itself was just as vague as she remembered it being, though, and with an exhale she eyed the coin once more. "But what to do..." she murmured softly; they found the coin, but they couldn't expect the thing itself to do much. Maka frowned at the device in her free hand, mulling over the possibilities before she noticed one that just might work ( ... )

There is a bright flash before the others' Dreamberries react. On their screen the following information is displayed.

There is also a notice that they each received one credit as reward for finding the clue, as well as the additional credit for accepting the mission.
