As much as it was probably difficult to tell, given his lack of enthusiasm for most things, Soul was actually really glad Maka had decided to turn up again when she did. There wasn't much use in denying that it was difficult to fight alone, especially now that he had become so accustomed to doing it with a partner, but beyond that, he had honestly started to miss her. Even the nagging.
So far, she sounded like she was handling things okay, too, which was also a plus.
By the time he reached Espoir and saw her standing there, Soul could almost sigh in relief, not that he would ever admit it. It was just so, so good to have her back.
