[Kid wakes up from a looooong nap and his head is killing him. Clenching his Dreamberry is one hand he stumbles into Espoir to find someone whome he may know. But the asymmetrical travesty that is Espoir made his head hurt even more. This place

Sometimes when he was alone, Shinigami would just stand outside and take in the sights, feeling the auras of hundreds of souls dispersed all around him. He had grown particularly fond of the feeling of other souls, far or near, maybe because he had spent so much time now in close proximity to children--now his favorite sort of people. Over the long years, his bitterness toward the frivolity of mankind had worn down to an almost endeared acceptance.

But right then, he happened to notice a rather distinctive soul wavelength. It was another reaper, and though there were some in Somarium besides himself, this happened to be a very familiar soul.

"Kid?" he thought aloud.

If he was right (and he knew was), he decided it would be best if he found his son before he caused any trouble... for himself or Espoir.

Kid's migraine was not getting any better as he continued to walk around Espoir. The more he tried to comprehend what was going on, the more it made his head hurt. His head perked up when he noticed a distinct wavelength...a reaper's wavelength.

"Father?" he asked to no one.

If there was one thing Shinigami could do when he wanted to, it was cover ground, and that he did. It did help that Kid wasn't all that far away, though. More or less in a few instants, he was looming over the familiar sight of his monochromatic son.

"Here, here~!" One plank-like hand suddenly withdrew from his cloak in something of a waving gesture. "Thought you were nearby~"

Kid looked up at his father. For a few moments he was rendered speechless. What in the world?

Soon, he came back to reality and wrapped his arms around his father (or what was that of his father) like a scared toddler who just found his mother.

"Father!"

When Shinigami hugged something (or anything, really, assuming it wasn't considerably larger than he was) it was more or less just engulfed in his cloak and his goofy-looking embrace. Hence, Kid was momentarily lost in a curtain of black before Shinigami took him at arm's length.

If what he had heard before held true, Kid probably remembered nothing of Somarium. It would be best to clear that up first.

"Good to see you, too, of course, though I have to guess you don't know where we are

"Urk," was all Kid mumbled when he forgot that he would be engulfed in his father's black cloak. Embarrassing~ But thankfully, Shinigami pulled him out.

He looked up at his father with a blank look on his face.

"I have no idea what you're talking about."

[cantakeyourlife]

"Ayup, yes, thought this might happen." Cue explanatory mode! "At the moment, we are both in a strange place called Somarium~! A dream world, supposedly."

He didn't really doubt that Kid would be skeptical of this. The boy probably never had asymmetrical dreams in the first place.

[deththekid]

"Dream world?" Kid arched a thin eyebrow. Yeeaahhh. This is all making no sense to Kid here. In fact it's making his headache worse.

He shuts his eyes tight when he talks, "Is there a way out?" Ow my head. He rubbed his left temple to relieve some of the pain. This asymmetrical environment was causing it. Yeah. That's it.

"Hmmmm~ not a voluntary one, nope." One would think the frightful and ageless visage of death would have been able to find something as easy as a way out of what seemed like a mostly normal place, but Somarium warped what was possible so completely that even Shinigami was at a loss as to what to do about it.

"Dream your way in, dream your way ~out~ maybe!! And before you fret, not only are we here, but we're still at home, too, which means Death City should be safe and sound. ♪"

Or at least relatively so, depending on how it was the last time Kid saw it.

"Hmn," was all Kid said in reply. That certainly made things more comkplicated. No way back home. Quite the dilemma. But at least Death City was safe.

"Are there people from Death City here, Father?" he asked.

[cantakeyourlife]

"Beyond myself and Soul Eater~? Not at the moment. However, I have noticed a very great and distinctive lack of demon gods around here, so it seems our weapons aren't necessary~"

It felt beyond strange confirming that verbally. Endless was the number of corrupted souls in the world as he had known it; the souls of people who had done the unthinkable and taken souls of the innocent for the sake of power for themselves.

"Ah. So it's just us three."

Kid was surprised about the lack of demon souls in this world. Strange. Very strange.

[cantakeyourlife]

"For now. In the fleeting present, however, I would love to hear all about your first impressions of this place!!" Doubtlessly very, very bad first impressions--this was Kid in The Asymmetrical Land of Espoir. But he could handle it.

Besides, what better way to instill a positive outlook than by helping to let him vent all the frustration first?

[deththekid]

"I'd like to tell you more, Father, but my head is killing me. Do you have some place to stay?" Kid really wanted to lie down somewhere. His head was pounding.

[cantakeyourlife]

"Oh~? Got it." From seemingly nowhere, Shinigami fished out a small silver key and dropped it into his son's hand.

"Building's called Enveria, out in Somni, which is that-a-way," he explained, pointing in the direction of the road that lead there. "I meant to keep an eye on Maka and Soul before--" And Kid when he was around the first time, but there wasn't much point in confusing him with that now. "--but I'm still in 424~"

Thank god he had already bothered to make it symmetrical.

That part about Maka and Soul? Kid didn't hear it, he was too busy tending to his throbbing headache.

"Oh wonderful. A symmetrical number. You always know what to do father."
