[It was dark. So dark. And where ever she looked, there was more of it - darkness that encompassed all, devoid of shadow, devoid of light.
And then, there was light at her fingertips, spreading along the pathways of her veins, filling her lungs with that same light. And there was a sudden breath of wind that blew across the darkened plane.
Inhale. Exhale. Her first breath echoed through the darkness, ushering in glorious, glorious light.

And what the hell, she still couldn't- It was so- Her fingers scrabbled against something hard and unyielding, and panic began to well. Within seconds, she had clambered up into a sitting position, gripping the sides of her arms as scarred tissue across her back and down her legs made themselves known. One panicked breath after another, and her eyes stared listlessly.
The sensations overwhelmed her, and for the first time in five years, she let the tears fall.]
