Who: Gale, anyone else on the Embryon base Where: ......the base. XD Style: any Status: open to the Embryon, Roland, and any cannibal-buddies (if there are any. \o_O/)
[Heat stirred, his nose twitching from the new (delicious?) scent in the air. He cracked his eyes open and reached for his ever-present glass of water beside the bed, carefully pushing himself to a sitting position. Water was all he'd really eaten for as long as he'd been at the base. He takes several sloppy gulps from the glass.
His breathing has gotten a little easier since he first returned, but it was nothing compared to his strength prior to the Minatsuki and Bat fight. Suffice to say, Heat has been pretty miserable, as restless as a caged tiger.]
What is it? I don't need 'em cleaned again, you know.
"There's a gift for you. And one for Sera as well." He brought the strip of bacon into Heat's view. "I thought you might like something more substantial than water."
[Heat slowly reaches out to pluck the strip of bacon out of Gale's hands. He brings it up to his nose and sniffs. The sensation that follows is vaguely nauseating, though he couldn't quite understand why; it smelt good.]
Tch. Smells weird.
[He pops the entire strip into his mouth. Chew. Chew. Chew. Swallow. .... Something didn't feel quite right. He frowned.]
"It's not human or demon flesh. Something new altogether."
The truth was, he felt responsible for this. It was David's idealism that had given Minatsuki the benefit of a doubt, despite Heat's warnings. He hadn't wanted to believe that it was all just a charade. But he knew there were liars in the world who would use others for their own ends and discard them as soon as their usefulness ran out. It wasn't a far stretch to know that Bat had teamed with her to destroy Heat.
"Heat...I apologize. I should have believed you. We all should have."
[The taste was strange, but somewhat familiar to him. The texture was somewhat tough and crunchy, unlike any fresh, bloody flesh he's had before. He could still taste the smoky saltiness in his mouth. His stomach felt a little strange, though - unsettled.
Heat shook it off.]
... Whatever. [Awkward] I'm not a liar, dammit. Serph should have investigated it, but it doesn't matter a hell of a lot anymore. Now he needs to buck up and make a decision about what to do with her next.
"I know you're not." Gale settled into uneasy silence.
But overall, such things didn't matter. Heat was alive again. The how or why didn't matter. "We will likely do the same we did with Bat. ...But I am worried. I...almost lost myself to Vayu. To my own anger. I was angry at what happened to Lupa, but that was nothing compared to this."
[Heat lies back on the bed, a hand over his stomach. He wasn't asking for any more meat. That in itself must have been strange, as Heat wasn't known to refuse a meal.]
Never seen you lose it like that before. [Except for that one time early on when Vayu attacked Cielo, but that was different. And for all that lecturing that Heat was completely out of control...
Come to think of it, Heat didn't actually know what they did with Bat. He grunted, casting a sidelong glance to his comrade.]
[Heat was looking a little pale at this point. Is the bacon not sitting right in his stomach? What the hell is going on? He glances to Gale at the offer of water.]

Hasn't Serph learned? Devour the bastard when you have the chance!

He paused, looking to the level of water in the pitcher. "I will refill that for you, if you'd like."

Yeah, I'll take more.

Yeah, fine. Just go get the water.
[Hopefully there is a bucket nearby.]
