Cornelia placed the back of her hand to her forehead, and wiped the sweat from her brow. The jog had nearly wiped her out. Towards the end, the sun had been beating down on her so hard that she could scarcely finish the six miles before collapsing. Her breathing was still uneven as she placed the damp towel to the back of her neck and began her walk back to Somni.
Stopping for a moment, she snapped the top of the bottle off and took a long gulp of water. As it went down, she was shocked to hear voices nearby. Usually, she didn't run into people during this part of her journey back to her apartment. In fact, that was her whole reason for taking this route. The peace and quiet. Out of curiosity, she stepped from behind the tree that seemed to be blocking her view and her eyes widened as soon as she recognized the woman sitting at the table with a miniature creature of some kind.
The witch...It was the woman who granted wishes. Cornelia had held off on visiting her because she knew that the prospect of making a pact that was

Yuuko stood up as the two women made eye-contact. She nodded back to the purple haired woman with a smile, though her face didn't betray any emotions.
"Ah, yes. I remember our conversation, Cornelia-san. How have you been?" she asked as she sat back down, her opened hand gesturing to the chair beside her.
The Witch noted the appearance of the princess: sweaty, flushed and slightly out of breath. It was oblivious that the young woman had been running a few moments ago. And from the shape she seemed in, the black haired woman could easily guess that the princess did such an exercise every day. Yuuko looked at the black, round and fuzzy ball with a soft smile:
"Mokona, would you mind getting Cornelia-san some tea? I am sure she would prefer it to a cup of sake after such a demanding training."
She then looked back at her guest, settling in her chair before taking a sip of her sake.
"Tell me Cornelia-san. What do I owe you this visit?" she asked politely, though the Witch had a pretty good idea already.
Cornelia nodded. "I have been fine. And yourself?" She took a seat across from Yuuko, her posture remaining stiff as her hands settled neatly in her lap. Her gaze followed the little animal that she had referred to as Mokono. She certainly hadn't expected it to talk. But, then again, she had gotten used to seeing all types of weird things since appearing in somarium. A furball with long ears and the ability to speak was hardly something to gawk over.
Her chin lifted slightly at Yuuko's last question. Better to get right to the point. "I am certain that you have an idea of what I came to speak to you about." She glanced down at her attire and then bit her lip, looking somewhat embarrassed. "Even if it was not planned." Tucking a strand of hair behind her ear, her lavender eyes settled on the other woman's. "Please tell me about your terms and conditions for wish making."

"I've been well, thank you for asking..."
The Witch reached for her pipe and lighted it up, inhaling a long drag of smoke before exhaling with a small smile.
"Ah yes, I do admit that I was expecting you regarding our last conversation over the phone..."
Yuuko chuckled slightly. The violent haired woman was very direct and she found it endearing.
"It is quite simple, Cornelia-san. You pay a price equivalent to the wish you want to make and I grant that wish. What you do with your wish is your own bidding all well as any of the consequences of your actions."
Mokona came out shortly, carefully balancing a gilded silver tray bearing an ornate tea pot and a delicate teacup. He bounced carefully onto the table, then sat down the tea in front of Cornelia.
Cornelia watched her inhale slowly and found her eyes drawn to the smoke that left the other woman's mouth a few moments later. Her response did not surprise her. After all, she had understood quite clearly the elementary workings of the process. However, what she was more interested in was the fine print details.
When the fluffy, round animal with the jewel on his forehead reappeared and placed the tea in front of her, she picked up her cup and sipped it before pronouncing a polite, "Thank you." Cornelia's gaze shifted to Yuuko so that she could read her expressions carefully. "I understood that part. But, for a wish like the one I proposed, what exactly would I need to provide as payment?"

"Ah yes....the means to be able to protect yourself and others you care for, right?" she asked, turning her head to the princess, her full attention on her guest.
The Witch looked at Cornelia, eyes locked on the purple haired woman's ones, as if she was trying to read her mind, or her deepest secrets. After a long moment, Yuuko cocked her head to the side, closing her eyes as she dragged another puff from her pipe.
"You have been touched by a powerful mind power before, haven't you?" she said softly, expecting honesty from the princess.
[ooc: I couldn't remember if Corni knew about being geassed before. If my tag is not okay with you, let me know and I'll change it when I get back home <333]
A powerful mind? It was true that she had been touched by quite a few persons that she wished she had never engaged contact with. Staring into the woman's crimson gaze, Cornelia found that she couldn't lie to her. But she found no reason to expand upon the issue and simply nodded her head, erecting a few vague words as an explanation. "There are several residing in Somarium that would cause harm to the people of this world. I wish to have a means to stop them."
[ooc: She has! And Volgin royally screwed up her confidence as well.]
The Witch smirked slightly before sipping her sake slowly. Once the cup was back on the table, she spoke again:
"I did not meant in this world. The world you come from....Would it be true that people from it may have powers that are unusual for most humans?"
She looked at the sky as she continued: "I would dare say that people very close to you have used their power on you, haven't they?"
Yuuko closed her eyes again, sighing softly: "Your wish has every noble intentions one with a strong heart can have...."
When the black haired woman looked back at Cornelia, she already knew what would be the price to pay for the young woman. But she wanted to hear more about the princess'world before offering the exchange.
Cornelia hesitated, her tongue freezing as she stared squarely into the other woman's eyes. How could she possibly...? But wasn't the answer obvious? She was a witch, of course. She couldn't help but wonder what that all entailed. Was she a mind reader? Could she use her magic without the payment she asked for? Were there limitations in the wishes she could grant? She shook her head to clear her thoughts and swallowed. "You are correct," she whispered as he gaze lowered to the table. She didn't want to offer up anymore information than she had to. Talking about Geass was not only dangerous, but it put those that she cared about in jeopardy. As long as she could protect them, she would have the strength to fight in this world of magic.
The Witch nodded slowly. Of course she knew she was correct, very rarely was her reading of others wrong. She seemed to think for a long moment, weighting in what she could ask and what she could offer to the purple haired princess. Once her decision was taken, she took another sip of her sake and leaned closer to Cornelia:
"I can give you a way to create a shield, both mental and physical around you and those close to you. They would have to be close enough for you to touch them. However, I can see that the power of those coming from your world worries you greatly and so the price to pay would be to have your shield being ineffective against those powers."
Yuuko leaned back, making it clear that there was no room for negotiation.
Even if there was no room for negotiation, she had to try. Cornelia swallowed, lacing her fingers together in front of her as she leaned forward. "Please... this distance thing. Do you mean, close enough in theory or that I have to actually touch them in order for it to be effective? Might I stand in front of them as a shield or can there be a radius of a few feet between us? How do I make it materialize? Will it...?"
The vision of the man who had accosted her was still so vivid. She couldn't imagine Jaina or her sister being placed in a position like that. If she walked in on a gruesome scene, would the shield be able to force an enemy away from her loved ones? How large was it? How long would it last? How often could it be used?
As for Geass, perhaps it was better that Yuuko didn't understand her brother's power. Even if her shield was ineffective, it wouldn't matter. He could only use it once on her, and that had already happened.
