Naturally, ever since Oz had found the library during his first few weeks in the strange world that was Somarium, the blond Bezarius heir had dedicated a good chunk of his week to looking at the plethora of books. He hadn't really searched the entirety of the library, opting to stick near one section and eventually make his way through the entire thing. It hadn't dawned on the youth to search out his favourite book series. Perhaps he should have, in hindsight.
Which, subconsciously, was the reason why Oz was making his way to the building from Espoir. He paused once close to it, noticing a familiar face. Ah right, that was Gilbert's younger brother, wasn't it? He hadn't really gotten to talk much with him in the tunnels, apart from the tripping scenario and a few words uttered after that.
"Ah...I didn't know you liked that series too!" Oz declared as he took a few tentative, casual steps closer to the other.
Uh oh... He had actually been kind of avoiding being alone with Oz for a while now. Eliot just had no idea to say to him anymore after learning his last name... But...
"What in the world are you on about? You knew that!" Of course, he had to know! That was how they had met!
"Ah...I did?" Oz tilted his head some and took another curious step towards Eliot. "Perhaps it slipped my mind." Maybe Eliot had mentioned something about the books while they were in the tunnels and he had just missed the Nightray brother saying that.
"Don't play dumb! It was when we talked about that..." Eliot gritted his teeth, rethinking what he was about to say for a second. He was about to say 'that trash,' "We were talking about Edgar!"
Oz arched a brow, honestly perplexed as to what Eliot was talking about. "...We talked about ... Oh, Edgar! He's my favourite!" Oz, your mind is a one-track record.
Perhaps it was destiny that, no matter what, things would have to turn out this way.
"What do you mean?...He's always stood by Edwin and the family's side. He's noble and selfless. He's so cool." Oz beamed brightly, though it was a bit hesitant.
"Selfless?! Yeah, sure he could think of himself that way all he wants, but that will never make it true! Trying to hide behind a mask of "self-sacrifice"... Every time he spouted that crap, it was all for his own self-satisfaction!
"And then... dying like that, praying for everyone's happiness, while he's the one hurting them the most... The only thing he ever protected was himself!"
Oz remained silent for a long while afterwords. Eliot's words slowly registered in his mind. When they did, a look of devastation and anxiety swarmed over Oz's disposition. The blond boy's eyes widened and his mouth opened to say something, but no words escaped. However, when words finally were able to come out --
"Edgar dies?!" he demanded, arms flailing about comically as he grabbed for the book. "B-but this is the first book and!-- And!" More flailing.
"What?! Did you forget, already?! It happens in the middle of volume 16!" Eliot drew his arm back when Oz reached for the book. What was wrong with Oz? How in the world could he forget something that only happened a few days ago?! Did he have short term memory loss or something? No, this had to be a joke!
"B-but volume 16 hasn't been released yet!" Oz continued flailing his arms. His eyes remained as wide as saucers as he tried grabbing for the book again. Of course, in his state of shock, he was far slower than Eliot was.
"How could you spoil it like that for me?! Edgar!... " Oz shook his head, trying to calm down enough to gawk at Eliot. Perhaps he was just playing a bad prank.
"Yeah it has! I already TOLD you about this! If you're such a big fan, you should know about it by now anyway!" Now Eliot was kind of horrified. Had he really just somehow managed to completely spoil everything for Oz, yet again?!
"You never told me that!" Oz responded, trying his best not to pout. He had always hated stories being spoiled. When he was younger, before Gilbert showed up, the only thing he had to do to entertain himself was read. Books were special to him, especially that series, and that character.
"That's right!...Ten years passed so more volumes must have come out and!..." He took in a deep breath. "...How did he die?"
"... Ok, what the hell is this? Is this some kind of joke?" Eliot's looking at Oz, dead serious. Oz's question was put to the back of his mind for now. This was way more important to him. "We just had this exact same conversation a couple of days ago at Latowidge!"
"....Latowidge?" The name sounded familiar. Wasn't that where he was supposed to attend school after he turned fifteen? Of course, he would have been there had it not been for the ceremony on the night of his birthday.
"...Isn't that a private school?" Oz mused, more to himself than anything. It took the blond a few moments to realize that, perhaps, the same thing that happened to Gil had happened to Eliot. They both remembered things he couldn't. ...Which honestly alarmed him.

"I know already!" He was getting closer to yelling, but it wasn't entirely obvious he was getting frustrated yet. "How can you still like him?!"
Yeah, this idiot isn't getting it yet.
