Is it free food?

Bat arrives in the form of Camazotz and severs the rope with the sharp end of one wing. He reverts to human form upon landing, frowning at the man. Sleeping?

"What were you doing?" Perhaps he should have let him hang for a bit longer.

As the rope is cut, Nozomu drops with a loud THUD and wakes up.

"WHAT IF I HAD DIED?" He quickly snapped to the stranger without thinking.

He pauses to the stranger's question for a while before finally answering.

"I- don't remember..." There was something that drove him to depression during his scouting of the land, but the exhaustion must have made him fall asleep in the middle of his preparations for suicide.

Though it wasn't much, he mentioned what he did remember before collapsing into sleep.

"If you'd died," Bat answered simply, "then I would have eaten you." Certainly no one could get onto him for devouring someone who was already deceased, right?

He didn't remember why he'd hung himself from a tree, but he'd definitely done it himself? The people of Somarium were strange. He tapped the hilt of one of the blades at his hip. "Should I give you another reason? I'm very hungry."

"...Eat? CANNIBALS?" There were cannibals around this area?

"HIIIEEEE!" Nozomu screams, backing away a significant distance and shaking on his feet. He didn't want to get eaten! And what if his body ended up poisoning him?

...Ai-san may have influenced him too much.

Bat smirked. That was such a nice reaction. It made him feel all warm and fuzzy inside. Though, that could be the hunger.

"Well, there's only one of me here right now, so that would be singular. Cannibal, without the 's'." He shook his head. It was a shame they weren't somewhere more secluded. His reputation was bad enough as it was. "Don't bother running. It won't get you anywhere."

"It doesn't matter. Everything we do is fruitless anyway!" Nozomu justifies his escape as he runs.

Such an interesting human. Smiling nastily, Bat shifted into the winged form of Camazotz and flew after him, catching up and hitting him with a gust of wind strong enough to knock him to the ground.

"A BAT?"

Turning into a bat? That is far stranger tan anything he has seen his students do. Maybe he should play dead? Wouldn't that encourage him?

Oops, no more time to think. It's not like there were many other options anyway. Time to scamper up and run frantically like every other time a psychotic was trying to kill him.

"Oh no you don't." Bat swooped down with the intent of grabbing the man up with his feet and carrying him back to where he found him. He wouldn't let go of him when he was there, lest the man immediately run off again.

Nozomu ALMOST didn't make it. If he didn't stumble right when the Man-bat swooped down, he would've taken more than his kimono. It was so close, he felt slight grazes on the back of his shoulders. He even explicitly saw his end if he got caught flashing before his eyes.

"HIIIEEE!" He let out a high pitched scream. He was running so desperately, he could hear his series' first opening theme playing. Was he in despair? Yes, he was in despair. He lost his rope, his kimono, and probably soon, his life. If he wasn't busy running away from the cannibal, he'd be hanging himself right now.

Bat laughed a bit more, tossing the kimono aside, before collecting himself a bit. This hadn't been his original intent.

"Oh stop running," he called after him. "If I'd intended to kill and eat you, you'd be dead by now."

The opening theme stops playing as soon as Nozomu stops running. He looks back at the Batman upon hearing the statement.

"WHAT IF I HAD DIED?That went too far, even for a joke!"

Landing with a chuckle, Bat reverts back to human form. He picks Nozomu's kimono up from where it had fallen to the ground and tosses it to him. "Hey. I'm not the one who took off running."

That done, he crosses his arms over his chest and tilts his head. "Wasn't lying when I said I was hungry, either. But if I ate you, I'd have a mob after me, and I'd rather not spend all of my time in hiding. I can't pretend to feel bad for it like the Embryon."

"It was a common human reaction!" Nozomu defended his actions while putting on his kimono.

Chain of society or not, it was still troubling having cannibals around ready to pounce on the slightest chance. "I understand that you are a cannibal, but couldn't you have tried beef? Their muscles' substance are similar enough!"(ooc: I think)

"Beef?" The word sounds familiar, but he can't place it. "Actually I don't know how well a human would even sustain me. I've never tried eating one."

He smiled. "There's a rather limited supply of other demons here, though."

"Meat from cows. I am not sure of the livestock here, but there must be some if everyone else isn't starving like you." Nozomu explains automatically. He hates his teaching job, really. Everything about it just became a habit.

"Demons? If people here still follow that tradition of driving them away, that makes sense." So they still have difficulty having a place here.
