While it was true that they didn't need to eat in this world, Yukiko had... gotten into the habit of trying to learn how to cook back in Inaba, and she'd be damned if she was going to stop her efforts just because she was, well, in another world. The fact that no one actually had to eat her attempts probably helped.
So she was on her way to a store to acquire groceries when she caught a glimpse of familiar red hair above an equally-familiar school uniform out of the corner of her eye. Yukiko turned to face the girl, who hadn't noticed her yet, though the identity was unmistakable.
"Rise!" She called out in welcome, a smile brightening her face.
Rise looked up and away from her phone upon hearing her name. A smile grew on her face as she turned to see Yukiko nearby.
"Yukiko-senpai!" She immediately pocketed the handheld and made a beeline to the other girl. She was beaming as she grabbed her friend's hand, squeezing hard to make sure that she wasn't dreaming, that the person standing in front of her was real. "You have no idea how glad I am to see you," she said, relief evident in her voice. "I had no idea where I was, so I was beginning to worry. I was just thinking about about calling one of you actually."
She took a quick look at her surroundings before turning back to face her senior. Rise had noticed that Yukiko seemed unfazed by place... as if she were used to it already. It had calmed her somewhat, but despite that she still wanted to confirm it herself. "Where are we, Yukiko-senpai? This isn't the TV World, right?"
hope you guys don't mind me jumping in? >>;rose_devotionJune 6 2009, 14:59:35 UTC
The red haired maiden was slowly loitering the streets with a grim expression on her face. She had been wandering it everyday to figure out something useful, and something that would explain the phenomenon of this world. The things that happened here, did clearly remind her of the Dark Hour in many ways, only there was no shadows to fight.
She saw no monsters that threatened her life, or the fact that personas could be summoned. For some reason, she still pondered about the conversation a month or two ago when she was there before. There were other persona users. Only she didn't know if they were enemies or allies.
Those red hues flickered slightly when she noticed another person not too far from her. Then she glanced over at someone else. There were two people within her distance and they seemed to be conversing. She wondered what they were talking about. Though, nonetheless, she approached them carefully. She heard them speak, but the words were incoherent to her ears. Though one of the voices sounded quite familiar.
It was relieving to see someone familiar but she realized that it wouldn't last. As long as she knew nothing about this world, it was best that she didn't let down her guard. Especially if someone as maniacal as Adachi was possibly on the loose.
She tensed up upon noticing someone else not to far away. Rise had not recognized the person but thought that maybe she was an acquiantance of Yukiko-senpai's. She shook her head, deciding it was probably best not to assume these sort of things. "Senpai, you wouldn't happen to know her would you," she asked in a hushed tone, tilting her head at the newcomer's direction.
Yukiko frowned at Rise's confusion. "You mean you don't remember, Rise? ...you were here before, but you left." She sighed, trying to figure out how best to explain the world, squeezing Rise's hand in a way she hoped was comforting. "You're right, this isn't the TV world. It's... actually a dream world, called Somarium. We're all here, some of us from different times. I-I know it doesn't make sense, but it's true."
Before Rise could answer, though, the girl tensed up - and Yukiko turned to see who she was looking at ... it was the other girl, the one from Tatsumi Port Island. "I've spoken with her once or twice, actually," Yukiko quietly said in response. "She's... from Tatsumi Port Island - you remember, where we went for the school trip?"
Yukiko's explanation had left Rise even more flustered. "I left? I don't even remember being here in the first place." She averted her gaze from the upperclassman, trying to take in what she was just told. It didn't make sense, but hadn't the TV World been the same before the others had come in to save her? "A dream word? Different times? How are we all from different times...?"
"Of course, I remember Tatsumi Port Island." She giggled at the memory, or lack thereof with regards to when they went to the bar. Glancing at the other girl once more, she recalled all those unrecognizable names that she had seen on her phone. Could that girl be one of them?
"Oh yeah, I've been meaning to ask." Rise let go of Yukiko's hand, reaching for her pocket to pull out her cellphone. "Something's wrong with my directory. There's a whole bunch of people on that I don't know! Is it a problem with the provider or something?"
Yukiko frowned again - she knew exactly how confusing it was to be dragged here. "Yes, you were here... you were here before I was. But you left - I guess you don't remember it. Er... people come into this world while they're asleep, but it's strange. You can fall asleep and dream in this world, too." She shook her head. "And the last day I remember is December 8th - right after we found out about Adachi - but some of the others are here from later. I know it doesn't make sense, but... it's true."
As Rise reached for her phone, Yukiko nodded in understanding, grabbing her own Dreamberry. "Oh! This isn't a phone - well, you can use it like a phone, I guess. It's called a Dreamberry, and it lists everybody in this world, whether you know them or not." ...and then she winced again. "The trouble is... when you're asleep, sometimes the Dreamberry will, well... it'll broadcast what you dream."
A problem - especially if you had a dream where you were naked.
"So, we really are from different times?" It was more of a statment than a quesiton, as if Rise was slowly accepting that fact. "We already defeated Adachi where... from my time. Three months ago actually."
She looked at her phone - or rather her Dreamberry- once more, and scanned through the list. Her mouth hung open, seeing the number of people that had been stored on the device. "Oh my gosh! Any dream? All of our dreams? What if it's something...dirty?" Rise felt the heat rise to her cheeks and she reached a hand up to slightly cover her face. The thought had slightly piqued her interest, but was nevertheless embarassing.
"...yes, I've heard. You - er, the you that was here before - told me that, too."
Yukiko winced again, and if Rise was perceptive, she could tell that the girl was starting to go very red in the face. "Any dreams. E-even if they're embarrassing. It can happen to any of us."
After a long conversation between the two girls, the red haired woman approached them this time, with a small smile grazing her face. She could hear their conversation as she approached but remained at a distance so that she wasn't getting too much in their business. She figured that the girl with the familiar voice, the one with long black hair was someone she had spoken to before.
This might be a good time to speak to her and the other girl, she assumed was her companion.
"I... did?" Rise pursed her lips, her earlier embarrassment slowly fading away. "Geez, this is all so confusing!" She began shaking her fists in frustration.
It didn't take long until Rise noticed that the stranger had come closer again. If Yukiko-senpai had spoken to her before, she she supposed that she could somewhat trust her as well. She bent forward and waved. "Hi there."
