Who: "Dist" (well, Ion, but it looks like Dist) and anyone else. Where: Somni, at the main library. Style: Either~! Status: Open. Come and make him feel even more ridiculous. :>
"This was the first I'd heard of it, to be honest," Ion said. "I suppose I shouldn't have taken my own lack of knowledge so lightly..." He shook his head, dispelling his thoughts. It was too late for that now, anyway. He might as well resign himself to his temporary fate and feebly make the best of it.
"But never mind that. While I'm here, maybe I could lend you a hand." It was quite a large library, so extra help when pinpointing a certain topic was usually a welcome offer. "What exactly were you looking for?"

He had to admit, at this point in time, he wasn't looking for anything in particular, just knowledge that he lacked. "Nothing in particular unless you've been here before and found any decent books that you can recommend. I'm just not used to knowing so little about a place."
"It's not difficult to find information about the basics of this place," Ion-Dist said, frowning contemplatively at a distant bookshelf that housed such texts. "There just seems to be a peculiar lack of specifics. They don't detail things like law or death, either."
He knew he hadn't been the first person to try to look up such topics, only to find that information was next to non-existent. (What did happen if you died, anyway?)
Re: No prob! :>arrogant_mageJune 12 2009, 02:55:57 UTC
"Considering what I've heard, law seems to not exist, except for what we do to ensure people behave. I've seen worse."
In fact, his mind just cringed at the thought of what was worse. Though Rune himself hadn't been around during those days, there was a part of him that was and knew just how horrible of a time it was for his kind.
"Does your world even know what happens to you after you die? I would think what happens here would be as unknown as it is in my own world."
"In Auldrant? Well, your fonons would return to the planet storm if you were a replica." After all, seventh fonons were attracted to each other, and they would always find their way back to Lorelei... But regular people? The church had taught him that your soul passed on, but there was no way to know for sure if that was true. "I'd like to think a greater force collects the souls of anyone else, just like Lorelei collects seventh fonons."
It seemed better than thinking you simply decayed, anyway. At least in that regard, he was comforted by his existence as a replica--he knew that when he died, his existence would keep on living in another sense.
"I can't speak for all the people, there are three major races after all." Of course Rune wouldn't mention the fourth, he was always very secretive about his own people. "The most common belief is that the person will watch over you from afar."
Of course, Rune knew for a fact that in some cases, their spirit did live on. He'd met all the previous heroes and spoke with them through the Elysdeon long before he had given it to Chaz. But they had chosen to do that, to be around to guide future generations, and the relics served as a vessel for their souls and memories.
"People returning into a storm? That just sounds weird and somewhat unpleasant. What makes a replica so different?"
The way Rune put it made it sound a little more amusing that it should have.
"I'm sorry," Ion-Dist said, suppressing a small smile. "I should have explained better. Replicas are composed of things called seventh fonons, and when they die, the fonons separate. Seventh fonons are drawn to one another, and so when they dissipate, they return to the world's flow of fonons, the Planet Storm."
It felt sort of strange to be talking about it so technically when he was a replica himself. "It's a little depressing to think that people simply die, though, don't you agree? At least if you believe in something, you don't have to be afraid."
So he guessed fonons were some sort of thing that composed things on Ion's world, something like all the elements that fueled magic and techniques on his own, but it appeared they had other uses.
He couldn't help but smile though, oddly, it was interesting to learn about other worlds and maybe while he was stuck here he could learn some things to bring back to his own world. This technology of replicas could very well prove useful if he found any details about it. Of course, he'd have to tell some things of his own world.
"It's far easier to believe when you've actually spoken with heroes from previous generations. Rather humbling too when you realize that you're an idiot compared to them."
