Who: "Dist" (well, Ion, but it looks like Dist) and anyone else. Where: Somni, at the main library. Style: Either~! Status: Open. Come and make him feel even more ridiculous. :>
Ion had been rather absorbed in his search and hadn't even noticed the man approach. He startled slightly at the remark. "Inventions?" he repeated curiously. "But I don't--"
Oh. Right. Dist.
"I'm afraid I only look like someone you know," he said, feeling silly. "Dist and I recently, ah... body swapped. But it's nice to meet you."
"You're not..? My apologies, I didn't realize..." Frederic was trying to think of something proper to say in this situation, but of course he couldn't. He barely even understood what was going on. How could it be possible for someone else to be in Dist's body? In spite of the fact that this made no sense, a lot of things in this world made no sense to him, so he was getting accustomed to it. "It is nice to meet you too, however, might I ask who you are? How did you come to inhabit Dist's body this way?"
"To be honest, Dist and I barely know each other."
Realizing just how little he knew about Dist made him feel even more stupid about ending up in his body. It almost seemed like he couldn't have dragged anyone worse (or more random) into his problem. "We're from the same world, however, so we did know each other prior to this, um, mishap." Sigh. "It turns out there are Dreamberry cards that cause you to switch bodies with the person nearest to you, and that's what happened here. Of course, had I known, I would never have done this intentionally..."
The Dreamberry could do things like that? There was clearly much he had to learn about the odd device. He made a mental note never to touch any strange cards, as that seemed to be what caused this unexpected mix-up. Frederic looked sympathetic, because even though he was a worried about Dist, whoever was inhabiting his body at the moment was clearly having a difficult time adjusting. After getting over his initial confusion, Frederic finally responded.
"Have you spoken to him about finding a possible solution to this predicament? If he's an inventor... Perhaps he may be able to discover a way to return you both to your true selves. There are also many other scientists from other worlds." He suggested.
"We'd considered that, but after something similar happened once before, it was concluded that there's nothing to do but wait it out." A disappointment, really, since it was so awkward being stuck the way their were. There was also the problem of Dist's machinery; voice recognition stopped it from activating for the man while he was in Ion's body, and Ion had no idea what to do with it while in Dist's.
"It's awkward, but I worse could have happened." He smiled. "So, what did you come here looking for, if you don't mind my asking?"
"Ah, then you know these effects are only temporary? That is fortunate, though it still must not be pleasant at all." Frederic said. He was starting to notice the odd differences in "Dist's" demeanor and movement. It was quite interesting to see, almost as if the man had matured in a completely different context and then came back while still appearing the same. The way that this person was acting almost seemed a little familiar, but only vaguely.
"I came to search for any books that might have information about certain musicians from my original world. Were you looking for something in particular as well?"
Ion laughed a little. "Anything at all. I ran out of books at home, so I thought I'd look here for some new material."
He perked up a little at the thought of researching music. Sound was the basis of a number of things in his own world as well, but he had never had much contact with music. It seemed like pianos were well sought after in Somarium, though. "That sounds interesting. I don't suppose you're one of the pianists I've heard near Espoir, are you?"
That certainly was a good reason, and it was very similar to his own. Frederic became slightly flustered that Ion had been able to guess that so easily.
"Yes, I am... I apologize if it has ever caused any disturbance."

"No, not at all! I thought it was beautiful." It sounded really weird for Dist's voice to be saying Ion's words (especially given word choice), but he was getting so used to it that he didn't even pay mind. "You play so softly. It sounds so thoughtful."
"I'm glad" Frederic said and gently smiled. "Playing the piano really does have a special place in my heart. It is extremely important to me, and I am always very happy to hear that others enjoy the music as well."
Fffff. Wrong account, Freddy. xDDcaprice_of_songJune 8 2009, 22:10:28 UTC
"I think that's wonderful. It sounds like you've been playing for a long time." Definitely the case, if the man had such command over the tone of his notes. "That's very admirable. It must have taken a lot of hard work."
