Like the young man who walked down the path, sparkling like a multi-faceted jewel and seemingly effortlessly carrying a piano.
The piano wasn't that much of a surprise; he'd seen people carry unbelievable weights before. It was the unnatural sparkling that led him to start walking much slower then before, curiously examining the young man.
Reply
It was actually slightly amusing, considering the piano was larger than him. More people were curious over his skin instead of his strength.
Like the person ahead who was now openly staring at him. But this person's face was... unusual. Was that a mask?
Edward stopped, putting the piano down in front of him.
"Hello," he said. "Enjoying your walk, sir?"
Reply
His eyes moved to the young man's hand, which was sparkling just as brightly as the rest of him. "If you don't mind me asking, why does your skin do that? I've never seen anyone...glitter before."
Reply
"Glitter", for instance, while an accurate description of his skin's condition, only reminded him of the stuff girls seemed to put all over their skin.
Edward studied the person before him, attempting to get a read on the young man. "Well, it's my skin's normal reaction to the sunlight due to what I am."
Reply
"I've never heard of such a thing." he commented. Then, part of the young man's sentence sunk in. "Wait...what you are?" he wondered, confused.
Well, if this man was something other than human, it made some sense. From what he knew, most people from other worlds didn't shine like jewelery in the sun or carry heavy pianos with ease.
But, what else was there?

Until he'd come here, Haku had never even heard of a vampire. The most supernatural legends he'd had in his own world was the oni.
But coming here and overhearing some conversations, Haku had picked up on the existence of vampires and many "facts" surrounding them.
And he had to say, the young man facing him did not fit the vampire criteria he'd compiled. The pale skin fit, but it's luminescence, the golden eyes, the staggering beauty...none of it fit in with what little he knew of vampires.
"I must say, if you're a vampire," he commented, still pleasantly smiling, "you don't fit the stereotype very well." He didn't doubt that the young man spoke the truth, but he had to admit, he didn't seem to be the vampire type.
Reply
"That's correct. The general stereotype has seemed to evolved throughout the ages, sometimes adapting to fit tales of serial killings and the like. Most of it is utter myth, but there is some truth hidden in the stories." He gestured towards his skin. "For instance, we can go out in sunlight, but tend not to because of our skin's reaction... it would draw attention from humans. Also, the stories of what we need to sustain our... existence... are very much true."'
He paused. "But, as I've found out through several meetings, vampires apparently differ from world to world. This is simply how it is where I come from, sir."
Reply
"That makes sense." he noted. "It's likely that most worlds have some variations between types of species."
He too studied the young man across from him. He had to admit, he was fascinated. Despite hearing about vampires, he'd never met one. His natural curiosity was pricking up in spite of himself.

"I'm Haku." he said, shaking Edward's hand. "And I think I will ask questions- if you stop calling me sir."
Reply
"What questions do you have for me then, Haku?" he asked after a small pause, leaning against the piano.
Reply
"Well...I've heard a good deal about vampires. That they drink human blood, that they can transform into mist and bats, that they're immortal, and a few other things."
He eyed Edward with curiosity. "Do any of those apply to you?"
Reply
"A couple of them do. For instance, I am immortal... there are very few things that could kill me, and really only one way you can kill a vampire. And yes, I do drink blood; it's the only thing that will sustain us." He paused. "But, whereas the majority of vampires in my world drink human blood... my family and I live off the blood of animals to avoid killing humans."
A smirk crossed his lips. "As for the mist and the bats... that is all simply myth."
Reply
"If you're immortal," he asked, "how old are you?"
