[This must be it. Graham glances down at his Dreamberry one more time, making sure he'd followed the directions precisely, and nods. Regarding the door, he pauses a moment, not sure whether to simply enter or knock. Settling on the more respectful option, he raps twice on the door and waits.]

*The sound of footsteps from inside, and then Treize pulls open the door*

Captain Aker. I'm glad you could join me.

[He find a salute comes almost instinctively - Treize certainly has a commander's presence in the flesh.]

Colonel Khushrenada. It's my pleasure, I assure you.

*Smartly returns the salute, holding it for a moment before relaxing and motioning for Graham to do the same - he steps backward, holding the door open for the man* Please, come in. We have much to discuss.

[Returning to ease and stepping past Treize, Graham takes a moment to survey the new surroundings - the usual drill.]

It does sound that way. I was surprised to hear there was such a thing as a militia in a world like this, but pleasantly so. You organised it, I assume?

I did. *He nods, shutting the door behind the two of them.* I arrived in this world in the midst of a rather dangerous storm, and the entire city was infested with strange ... shadow beasts, for lack of a better word. No one was severely harmed, but the lack of organization and communication that I observed was a crucial flaw.

There was no question about it, really - this world needs an organized group with the ability, power, and will to protect those here who cannot protect themselves. And I am always looking for like-minded men and women with the talent and the drive to join my cause.

Shadow beasts? If something like that's likely to happen again, I'd better see about getting hold of a firearm. A suit would be better, obviously, but I can't see that happening too quickly.

[He nods, meeting Treize's gaze.]

I can see the logic. Obviously the more people you get, the better able you are to mount an effective defense. Well, I suppose I'd better ask - how do I go about applying?

The firearm I can assist you with, Captain. As for the Mobile Suit... *He chuckles, his exterior manner betraying nothing - it's too soon to trust this man, of course* ...it would certainly be convenient. Alas, I doubt one will fall into our laps anytime soon.

Captain Aker, I would not have asked you to come here if I didn't think you would be an invaluable asset to the cause. You are a man with the sort of honor only found on the battlefield, and I have no doubt you are as skilled a pilot as I believe you to be. I would be glad to have you on my side.

You can? That shouldn't surprise me, really. If you have a pistol and some ammunition, that will more than suffice. [He frowns slightly.] Though I have no way to pay you.

[A raised eyebrow. He's certainly glad Treize wants him on board, but he's not used to his abilities simply being accepted without a demonstration. Well, he'll simply have to make sure he lives up to the belief that's been shown. No problem at all.]

I'm honoured, Colonel. From what I've seen of you, I'm fairly confident I'll be more than willing to join, but you'll forgive me if I ask what duties I'd be expected to perform first?

[It wasn't that he mistrusted Treize at all, but it was always best to know as much about what he'd be getting into as possible.

Don't worry about payment, Captain. Things in this world, for the most part, come free - as hard as it may be to believe. Your assistance is all the payment necessary. Please, this way.

*He turns, gesturing for the pilot to follow him, leading him down a corridor to a room with what is unmistakably a professional-grade weapons locker against the wall.* I'm afraid I can't promise you a weapon from your world, but we should have something similar.

...as for your other question? Your duties would be fairly minor for the moment. This world is, by and large, a peaceful place. Should there be any incidents, I would expect you to be ready at short notice to help render assistance to anyone in jeopardy, and contain or neutralize the threat... whether with your sidearm or, *He arches an eyebrow* with a Mobile Suit. Some possibilities being more likely than others.

You're more than generous - something similar is all I would need.

[Fairly certain Treize won't mind, Graham opens the locker and begins examining the contents, testing the weight and sights on several weapons as he talks.]

That sounds more than acceptable. It's certainly a better use of my time than simply sitting around this place waiting to see what happens next. [He grins.] And if a Mobile Suit should somehow turn up, however unlikely that is, it seems to me that you'd be the man most likely to get his hands on one.

[Satisfied with seemed to be a fairly straightforward pistol, Graham belts on the weapon under his coat, pocketing a couple of extra ammunition clips as well. Turning to face Trieze, he straightens and salutes once again.]

I'm at your command, sir.

*Again, he returns the salute sharply before returning to at ease* I'm glad to hear it. *He pauses - the other man doesn't seem to be here yet, which gives them some time to discuss some of their mutual interests*

It's intriguing... many of us come from different worlds, yet many of our worlds share common elements - such as Mobile Suits. We are not the only pilots here in this world.
