A blonde walked into a bar.

....

Well, a tavern. Guy wasn't exactly one for fancy and sparkly places, and as such the rustic feel appealed to him. (And he could use a break from dealing with redheads.) Thus, the tavern.

Of course, there was the bartender. And there was something vaguely familiar about the guy, even though by all rights Guy would have never ever met him, but...eh.

"Hey," he said, heading towards the counter.

xDD Raven is getting more than he anticipated wtf.

Raven looked up and grinned at the blond. New face, he mused before pushing off the back counter and leaning forward across the other.

"Hey there," he grinned. "Can I get ya somethin'?"

It's a bar, whaddya expect?

And there was just something about that voice which nagged at Guy, something oh so vaguely familiar. (Perhaps it was team babysitter meeting team babysitter? A sense of kinship?) He decided to put it aside. It most likely was his imagination.

"Yeah. I'll have an al--"

That was when Guy noticed the record player.

Raven followed Guy's gaze, feeling something tugging in the back of his head. Had he met the guy? Well, no, he would have remembered someone in that all orange get up.

...Orange? The thought bugged him, but it didn't matter. It seemed his new customer was fascinated by the record player.

"Don't like the music?" he teased.

"Well, it's not my usual thing, but," Guy's voice trailed off as he started eyeing the record player. The closest thing he saw to that was in Sheriden and that thing was massive compared to this. It was so streamlined, comparatively, and while the discs looked a bit bigger than the ones they were retrieving. But what kind of material were they...oh, right.

"Sorry," he said to the bartender with a grin. "I just like fontech. I'm Guy."

Raven returned the grin. "Fontech? Looks more like your standard record ta me. But pleasure ta meet ya, Guy. I'm Raven."

"So what is fontech? Is that what ya call yer technology back where yer from?"

Raven wanted to say he heard the term before from Asch, but he wasn't sure. So he was going to play dumb. He'd get the information regardless.

He thought about it for a moment. "I guess you could say that," Guy replied, rubbing the back of his head awkwardly and resisting the urge to gush only barely, "Yeah, I could go into detail, but even my friends tell me to shut up at times like that."

"Well, this is a bar. I should be used to hearing people talk on and on, right?"

Raven gave him a reassuring smile. "Tell me what ya want and you can talk all ya want. No charge."

"I guess you've got a point." He gave the record player one mournful look, a look which said 'I wish I could take you apart and put you back together,' before turning back towards the counter. "Haven't been around for long, so I'm not entirely sure how things...work here."

Tough luck, Guy. Maybe another time. Like. Next year or ten.

"Here as in the world or the tavern?" Raven asked. Technically, both would be true. But he couldn't help asking anyway.

A blonde can hope...?

"Both," replied Guy, shrugging, sighing. "Spent most of my time with Luke...friend of mine, and I haven't really had a chance to get to know the place. I never managed I'd end up in a place like this." He paused. "I think even the alcohol's different."

Maybe if he put it back together again. Or if it ever broke. Which is possible if there were bar fights.

Raven blinked as he started to mix a drink together. "Luke? So you know him and Asch, too?"

And then it hit him. In which he almost doubled over laughing.

"Oh, you're the guy who had that dream about them!" he laughed.

There was a horrified silence. A very startled, horrified silence. And then....

"You!" He recoiled somewhat, surprised. "You were that random laugh! I knew I heard your voice somewhere before!"

At this, Raven couldn't help but laugh even more, a hand on the counter as he doubled over.

"Aw man, that was the greatest thing ever!"

It took him a moment before he recovered, still chuckling. "What, did I scare ya or somethin'?"

If this was true, he was going to be so amused.

"Considering the people I find myself around, not so much. More made me wish Emperor Peony never got bored enough to design costumes." Guy settled back next to the counter.

"I knew there was going to be trouble." Guy mimicked the Emperor's tone, "'Gailardia! I have a surprise.'" He shook his head, remembering the sight of seven spandex uniforms. Horrible.

Raven just laughed. "So this Emperor guy was the one who inspired that dream? Don't tell me ya actually had to wear them!"
