Who: Edward Cullen. Estelle Sidos.
Where: Edward's residence in Espoir
Style: Third
Status: Closed.
Edward sat on the front steps of his home, thinking. He seemed to be doing quite a bit of that these days. His thoughts had changed so much from when he first arrived in Somarium. Back then, he merely wanted to find a way home. Now, he felt torn. Part of him wanted to go home. The other part wanted to explore what this world had to offer… how seemingly normal it felt to tell people that he was a vampire. He couldn’t get that back home.
And then there was… her.
Estelle had been a pleasant surprise. And while he had met other people in Somarium, she was the only one that he felt completely at peace with so far. He hadn’t even realized three weeks had gone by until a few days ago.
And therein laid the problem.
When he was with Estelle, it was… different. He didn’t have to pretend. He laughed more. She was always surprising him; he was always confiding in her. They seemed to share a mutual interest in one another, not unlike what he felt for Bella… but different from the fires that consumed him whenever he was around her.
So now he sat and wondered… was it possible to love two people in separate ways? Oh, he knew about different types of love - familial, friendship… that kind of stuff. But the way he thought of Estelle… he knew that that had passed the friendship realm at some point unbeknownst to him. He couldn’t deny it, no matter how hard he tried. But he couldn’t act on it either.
Although after the dream she had had, he wanted to.
He wanted to kiss her.
The thought stopped him cold, and he tried to push it aside. He still was unsure, indecisive… and he knew it would be wrong to act on anything without knowing exactly what he wanted.
He suddenly wished Alice or Jasper were there… or Carlisle. One of them would know what to do… he could confide in them, talk it through, figure things out…
Of course, he had talked to Estelle's friend... Flynn... but that only seemed to raise more questions than answer them. And now, more than before, he felt the pressure to make a decision. Estelle's friends were very protective of her. If he didn't decide... well... he was sure it would look, to them, as if he was merely toying with her.
He leaned his head on his knees and continued to wait for Estelle, trying hard not to think about anything other than the wind blowing through the trees.
