Status: VERY OPEN! COME AND BOTHER MINATO!

[Minato had found a spot in a field, and was starting to go through basic taijutsu maneuvers. It felt good to be outside in the crisp, spring air.

And it had been a while since he'd been able to just relax like this, letting his body go through the ( Read more... )

*For Kakashi to arrive only 10 minutes late is something of a miracle. But it's not every day he has the chance to spar with the Fourth Hokage. He lands a few feet away from Minato, knowing the Yondaime probably felt his presence long before he arrived, and just watches for a moment.

This is a little nostalgic.*

Kakashi-kun. [Minato greets his student with a smile, but doesn't stop his movements. The gleam in his eyes is mischievous, and really, it should be a warning for what happens next. In a flash of yellow light, the challenge begins.]

*That gleam is enough of a warning for Kakashi to pull up his hitai-ate, drawing out two kunais, one in each hand, bringing them up in a counter against an invisible force that should be coming towards his neck. From what he remembers about his teacher, usually the Yondaime's favorite move is a kunai to the throat after using Hiraishin -- the question is if his kunai will be able to meet Minato's fast enough -- or if Minato even chooses his usual tactic.*

[The Yondaime knows his own habits well, and knows that Kakashi also knows him just as much as another person can. Thus, it's not from the back with a kunai that he attacks, but from the front -- and from the back, too, with a brutal kick aimed towards the jounin's lower back. It's unclear which one is the real Minato.]

*It's too fast.

Kakashi meets the kunai in the front quickly with a clash of his own, but the kick sends him flying before he can dodge -- pain shooting through his lower back as the force of it sends him and Minato (or his clone) across the field.

He quickly breaks away and sends chakra to his legs, jumping back away, heading towards the forest for tree cover as his Sharingan swirls, fingers flying through seals.*

"Ninpou, Kirigakure no Jutsu."

*Immediately, the entire area they're in is plunged in fog so thick, neither of them can see their opponent.*

[Minato can't see, which is obviously bad, but he can't help the grin the spreads on his face. Kakashi had gotten better; more cautious, different from the boy that attacked head on with a jutsu that screamed his intent for all to hear and see.

The fog favors Kakashi, since he has a damnably sensitive nose, but Minato uses the cover to create three more clones, sending each in one of the cardinal directions. Whether they're killed or not doesn't matter much since they'll send info back to him.]

Fuuton Daitoppa no jutsu.

[He brings his hands to his mouth and a great blast of wind blows out, dispersing the fog as if it was never there. The force of the winds heads straight towards the forest, and levels the trees, even rakes the ground it passes over, like a solid force. Minato wonder how Kakashi will deal with this. He's looking forward to it.]

*Wind, however, was weak to fire -- and a strong fire jutsu, powered by wind, would send the attack right back at its user. Kakashi'd taken underground with the wind bursting at him -- leaving a clone behind to duck behind a cluster of rocks as the wind cuts around him. The moment he feels he can take advantage of the wind, he jumps out from behind the rock*

KATON GOUKAKYUU NO JUTSU!

*The wind's direction suddenly changes, and a gigantic fireball races towards Minato.*

[The enormous katon jutsu sets his blood racing with adrenaline. And he's feeling very proud of Kakashi's resourcefulness.

But the fireball doesn't present a danger, because he hadn't sent his clones out just to search for the jounin -- each one had been carrying his three-pronged kunai, and he uses Hiraishin to disappear at the last second, letting the tell-tale yellow flash blend with fiery glare of the katon so that it seems he never evaded.

He sends his clone out to confront Kakashi and dives underground.]

*Kakashi's clone knows the Yondaime couldn't possibly have been caught in that blast -- and sure enough, he sees him in the distance. He moves quickly over ground and catches his opponent in his sights before sending chakra through his arms and sending it slamming down on the earth.*

Ikazuchi Hakai no Jutsu!

*Lighting raced over the ground, shooting deadly and sparking across the surface, scorching up the earth underneath it and decimating rocks and trees that came in its path as it shot straight towards his opponent.*

[Only, instead of falling to his knees in pain, Yondaime explodes as lightning courses through his body, scorching the earth and air, a plume of black smoke blanketing the area.

The real Minato uses his clone's explosion to mask his own movements and feel out Kakashi's chakra. He's sure that the Kakashi before him isn't the real one, but he's impressed that it has enough chakra to complete two high level jutsu.]

*He'll run out of chakra at this rate -- Kakashi recognizes the need to try and get the Yondaime into close combat, but he doesn't know how he can manage to escape the Hiraishin unless he fights at mid to long distance.

The clone looks around carefully for signs of Minato, sending out his chakra to search for the other's signature.*

[Two Minato clones are flitting around setting traps, and the last dashes over to a section of rock and trees and explodes seemingly for no reason.

In truth, the blond is creating a wide clearing, without random outgrowths to serve as cover. The final confrontation will be in Minato's advantage out in the open if there are no obstructions.

It's time to lure him out, the blond thinks, as he switches places with another one of his clones above ground. He's out in the open now; he wonders if Kakashi, the real one, will take the bait.]

*The clone moves carefully and quickly, evading the traps -- stopping short of placing himself in the blast zone of a five-point explosive tag trap. Well, this was definitely getting a little more difficult.

He navigates carefully, shooting up into the trees, suppressing his chakra as his eyes narrow in on the Minato he sees. It could be a clone -- could be the real -- either way, it's time for him to find out.

He launches himself out of a tree, using a smoke bomb to obscure sight with his kunai in hand, under the cover of a rain of shuriken.*

[Minato closes his eyes against the smoke and blocks the rain of shuriken with a kunai -- one in each hand -- using merely the sounds of the air whistling; Kakashi's not the only who's trained his senses.

He smirks, because he's pinpointed where the attack came from and throws one of the kunai in its direction, activating Hiraishin even before projectile finishes cutting through the smoke.

When he appears again, it's right in front of Kakashi -- not the real one, but a clone, Minato suspects -- and grabs the kunai that is still in flight, aiming it at the jounin's jugular with a swift thrust.]

*The kunai went straight through and the clone's eyes widen in shock -- there's a splatter of blood -- and then it explodes into a puff of smoke just as the ground right in front of Minato breaks open and Kakashi comes bursting out of the ground right at his feet, fist flying towards his teacher's jaw*

[He expects Kakashi to be better now, stronger than he used to be when he was fourteen, but still he's a little shocked and jarred when the jounin's fist collides with his jaw; the impact stuns him for a millisecond, his vision white, but the blond recovers quickly, and grabs the hand that is flying past his head.

He pulls Kakashi forward and attempts to ram a knee into the silver-haired man's gut.]
