As his eyes slowly slid open and his vision came into focus to give him a view of the deep blue sky, Frederic first assumed that he must have accidentally fallen asleep at his piano and fell off his bench while playing in the field of Heavens Mirror flowers. Suddenly, his eyes widened as he saw that instead of the clouds and endless blue he usually assumed he would see, there was something else that was very VERY odd floating in the sky…

Since when could castles float?!

Frederic immediately sat bolt upright, staring at the floating impossibility. Well… He had been used to more and more impossibilities as of late, but he had never seen something that was usually so… grounded, just floating in the air on it’s own. As he looked closer at it, he started to note the distinctly different look it had to anything he had seen for a while… It had no musical symbols on it, and it was nowhere near as beautiful as his surroundings had been in recent times.

Furthermore, he was definitely not in the field of Heaven’s Mirror anymore. This field didn’t have flowers… It was full of scarecrows! Instinctually, Frederic got onto his feet and put a hand on the baton that was comfortingly still attached to his belt. Upon seeing that they wouldn’t suddenly start moving, Frederic calmed down. Along with his baton, he was still wearing the same outfit that he had in his dream…

In front of him, he could see that he was on the outskirts of a village that almost looked like something he would have seen in his own world… before the “dream” had begun. However, behind he could see buildings in the distance unlike any he had ever seen! They towered over everything, much higher then he had ever imagined they could reach. They were built completely differently then any in Paris.

Frederic noticed his hat lying on the ground and bent over to pick it up, He turned it in his hands and looked it over as he thought deeply. Just as he had begun to finally accept that beautiful world as his reality, he suddenly woke up in a new world, again. Could it be that… This was the afterlife? Had he really died after all?

Knowing that simply standing there was going to find him no answers, he started to make his way into the village, his mind racing with questions all the while.
