Danny punches a number into his Dreamberry while he walkes, and then holds it up to his ear. After a moment he sighes and punches in another number (maybe the same one as before), repeating the process. It looks as though he's been at this for a while.

Rena was glad to see that she wasn't the only person who had just recently arrived in this world. This boy's sudden out burst gave her the impression that he was just as (if not more) confused about the nature of this place as she was.

"Um, excuse me. Do you need some help?"

Danny turns towards her quickly, looking a little embarrased to have have been caught talking to himself. "No thanks, uh, sorry. I'm just..." He gestures to the castle, wrinkling his nose. "Trying to work stuff out."

Pause.

"Hey, you wouldn't happen to know what this place is, would you?

Rena nodded "I understand."

"Well, from what people have told me this place is called Somarium. They have also said something about this being a "dream world" but Rena doesn't understand what they mean by that though."

"Somarium..." He mumbles to himself, not looking happy. After all, this sort of confirms that he has absolutel no idea where he is.

Hold on a second. "Dream world?" He repeats, looking skeptical. "But we're not dreaming. Or are we?" He pinches his arm experimentally while he talks.

Seeing the boy pinch himself over and over made Rena flinch a little.

“I’m as confused on the matter as you are. What were you doing before you arrived here?”

Apparently convinced as to the fact that no, this is not a dream, Danny stops.

He looks a little uncomfortable at her question. "I was, uh, dealing with some classmates of mine." Totally 'dealing' with it. "They were football players, but I could have taken them if I'd wanted, so..."

Hmm, so it seems that he wasn’t in a near death experience as she had been (unless those were some really cruel bullies). That proved her theory that this was the afterworld to be false. So then why had they arrived here?

“I see…so it’s not that then.”

Cruel and unusual? Yes. Near-death-experience-inducing? Not quite.

"It's not what?" he asks uncertainly, knowing he probably wasn't supposed to have heard that.

"Oh...well I just had an idea about how we might have gotten to this place but your response proves it unlikely."

"What did you think it was?" he asks curiously.

[bigassmachete]

Rena didn't know if she should be telling people this or not, but he seemed like a pretty nice boy so it wouldn't hurt.

"To tell you the truth...before I got here I was in the middle of protecting one of my friends from a very horrible women. And...she put me in a life or death situation and next thing I knew I was here."

Danny thinks about this for a moment, before realizing what she's saying and wincing a little. "Wow... Uh, sorry if I was, you know, out of line." He looks awkward, but his default 'nice' and 'make sure people are alright' syndrome kicks in and he says, "Are you, uh, okay now?

“N-no! No! You weren’t! It’s ok, really!” Rena felt really bad about making him feel awkward, but there really wasn’t any other way she could have put it.

“Yes, Rena is fine now. I just figured…might as well make the best of the situation you know, you know.”

Danny smiles awkwardly, rubbing the back of his neck. "Oh--okay, just wanted to make sure."

He blinks at her use of third person, but assumes it's simply a quirk. "Hey, what else is there to do besides, you know, making the best of it?"

Danny will soon come to notice that she has quite a few odd quirks

“Hm? Oh, well there seem to be a lot of interesting places to go here and-“ Rena reached into her pocket and showed him her Dreamberry. “From what I’ve been told, these things can be used as phones and ‘broadcast dreams.’ Still not sure how it manages do that though.”

Danny looks at it with something between interest and apprehension. "'Broadcast dreams'? Any idea how it works?" He takes out his own dreamberry, scrolling through the cellphone-like menu as though he might find 'BROADCAST YOUR DREAMS HERE' squeezed between PHONEBOOK and GAMES.
