Ema had been sitting on the couch in her apartment, looking over one of the books on Scientific Investigation that she possessed. Even though she was certain she knew the book cover to cover, she thought it was a good idea to re-read the book, just to be safe. After all, Mister Edgeworth had promised to go investigating with her, and she couldn't afford to mess up in front of him, of all people. She was so engrossed in her reading that the sudden knock at her door startled her slightly ( ... )

"It's good to see you too, Ema!" Trucy replied happily as she stepped into the apartment. The room structure was pretty much the same as the apartment she was living in with Phoenix, but it was decorated to Ema's tastes. "Daddy just moved in and everything so we've been basically cleaning his room from head to toe."

"Sorry I didn't call ahead of time," she added with a slightly sheepish tone. "I hope that I didn't interrupt you!"

"Mister Wright's living with you now? That's great! Is Mister Wright really that unorganized? I mean, I knew he wasn't that good at taking care of his evidence, but I didn't think it would be the same with other things, too," she replied. In her opinion, Phoenix wasn't good at taking care of evidence merely because he did not take care of it as well as Mister Edgeworth did. For Ema, Edgeworth was the standard that Phoenix would be compared to.

"Oh! Scientifically speaking, it's fine, Trucy. I was just reading a book."

"Daddy really is. Well I mean, as far as I know he hasn't been that bad." Trucy replied fiddling with the bow on the box. "Daddy didn't bring much with him when he came here, but it didn't take long for me to make the apartment more homey. I guess we'll just have to see," she ended with a smile.

Trucy relaxed slighty after hearing that she hadn't interrupted that important. "Oh thank goodness. I just dropped by to give you this." She held out the nicely wrapped present towards Ema.

"That's good, then! I'm glad Mister Wright decided to stay with you, though. After all, since he is your father, it's only right for him to stay with you!"

Ema looked down at the present Trucy was holding out for a brief moment before reaching out with her right hand and accepting it from her, smiling brightly.

"Oh! Thank you! Can I open it now?" she asked.

"Yup! Daddy's pretty hopeless to begin with. I'm not sure how he'd live without me there to look after him," Trucy said with a giggle.

She nodded and smiled as Ema took the present out of her hand. "Of course! That's what a present is for. Sorry it took so long by the way," Trucy added, "I had some difficulties with the stitches but I think I've fixed it up so it won't fall apart."

"Mister Wright needs help with everything, then, I guess. After all, he wouldn't have been able to help Lana without Mister Edgeworth there. Scientifically speaking, that is," Ema stated matter-of-factly.

Upon gaining Trucy's permission to open the present, Ema began to undo the bow and, after removing the top, take out the object that was inside, and look over it with a smile. "Wow! Thank you so much, Trucy!"

"I haven't really heard about Daddy's past cases," Trucy pouted. "He hasn't told me much about his past at all, and I only learned that he knew Mama Edgeworth through Mama Edgeworth!"

Trucy flushed with happiness as Ema lifted her work of art out of the box. Even Trucy would have considered wearing it, even though she was a magician by trade and not a detective. The detective hat was made out a soft dark brown material she had found in one of the abandoned shops. Light brown coupled with a light pink criss crossed over the dark brown making it have a very nice look.

"I hope you like it. I would have made you something more scientific investigator-ish but it was difficult to think about what to make for that."

"Really? Scientifically speaking, that's kind of odd," she observed.

Ema liked the hat very much. Not only was it it a hat she could wear while out investigating with Mister Edgeworth, whenever that would happen, but it also matched her bag somewhat. That made it perfect in her mind, the fact that her friend had made it for her being an added bonus.

"I do like it, Trucy! Thank you!"

"It is, isn't it?" Trucy asked with a bit of a huff. "I've had to resort to finding out things by myself and Daddy isn't the easiest person to find things out about if he doesn't want you to find things out."

She giggled at Ema's response. She remembered that the Older Phoenix had always mentioned that she could become a seamstress if the magician thing didn't work out, but Trucy preferred to keep the clothes thing as a hobby. And besides, the magician thing not working? Not likely.

"No problem! I enjoyed making it. You should see the hats I made for Mama Edgeworth and Daddy."

"Well... scientifically speaking, I guess I could tell you some of the cases Mister Wright's had. Not all of them, though. Have you asked him lately if he will talk more about his job?" she asked as she continued to look over her present. It was put together very well, and if she didn't know better, Ema would even guess that this was something sold in stores, not something that Trucy had made on her own.

"You made Mister Edgeworth a hat?"

Trucy thought for a moment at Ema's suggestion. "Well he may say more now that he's Daddy from the past." She tapped her chin thoughtfully before speaking again, "I'll try and ask him again when I get back. It isn't like Daddy has anything else better to do."

At the mention of Edgeworth's hat though Trucy brightened again. "Mhmm! I would show it to you but it's back in my room. Hats don't really seem to be Mama Edgeworth's thing, but I did make it in his signature colour so hopefully he'll like it."

"That sounds like a good idea, Trucy. After all, scientifically speaking, a lot of Mr. Wright's cases are really interesting! He should be glad to talk about them."

Ema paused for a moment to imagine Edgeworth in a hat; though she couldn't see him wearing a hat with his suit, Ema could picture him wearing a hat while camping in some remote mountain forest. "I'm sure he will! He might need a hat for when he goes hiking or camping, in case it gets cold outside!"

"If he doesn't, I'll just look into it myself. I'm sure he has some old case files lying around someplace," Trucy announced with a satisfied grin.

At the thought about Edgeworth hiking though she paused and tried to imagine it too. "Maybe! But Daddy used to wear his hat all day after he stopped gelling his hair back." Beanies were kind of known for messing up hair after all. "But I don't see Mama Edgeworth doing that kind of thing."

"Knowing Mr. Wright, they can't be too hard to find, either!" she agreed.

"True, but it gets cold when you go camping. He might need it for then, when he's alone in the woods, roughing it like the outdoorsman he is!" Ema replied with a nod.

"Mama Edgeworth roughs it in the woods? Really?" Trucy would honestly have never guessed. One of the first times that she had met him of course had been when he had first arrived and he hadn't looked all that happy to have landed in the snow. She'd have to make a point to ask next time.

"Well maybe he will use my hat after all!"
