Cornelia had heard the clashing of steel and yelling before she realized that someone was fighting. However, when she found out that Raven was one of the people participating in the disturbance, she was shocked. If there was anything she had learned about the man, it was that he was peaceful in spirit... at least, it seemed that he was in the short period of time that she had known him. She had not been prepared for the sudden emergence of fear in her chest when she considered his safety. Cornelia wasn’t sure if it was concern, but the sensation had left her feeling confused and on edge. She had crouched behind a couple of wooden crates that had been off to the side so that she could watch.

The fight didn’t last long, and when it had ended, a bead of sweat slowly glided down her brow as the two men began talking amicably… a drastic change in tone from the battle that had taken place. She was beyond speechless. Never in her wildest imaginations had she believed that Raven possessed so much aggression, or speed, or hidden strength… or skill. Not to mention the magic she had witnessed after he had chanted a few words. It was almost frightening.

Cornelia had known that Raven was upset over Asch, but to see him become this serious for a person that was, in her opinion, useless really showed a sense of loyalty that she couldn't help but respect. There was an unwanted lump that had formed in her throat as soon as she saw him deliver a blow to his opponent, and every time the blond haired boy had sent an attack in Raven’s direction, she had tensed, so much so that there was a blister forming on her palm from squeezing the edge of the crate so hard.

A moment later, he was talking with Jaina and she listened closely, feeling uncomfortable and slightly annoyed when she heard him flirting with the other girl. But as she watched them, she realized that standing beside each other, they looked natural… they looked relaxed… and Jaina didn’t find his teasing offensive. It made Cornelia wonder why she reacted so differently. Jaina was an admirable woman. Any man would be lucky to be with her, and she certainly deserved someone that was worthy of her and would treat her well. It only confirmed that Cornelia was not meant for relationships. Trust… affection… and being what Raven considered ‘relaxed’ were things that she was incapable of.

She was so lost in thought that she didn’t notice Raven turning away from Jaina to leave. When she looked up again, he was heading in her direction and she realized that he would very well be able to see her if she didn’t promptly move. Cornelia quickly crawled towards the door, only standing when she knew she was out of his sight and she could safely move down the hallway without the risk of being seen.
