Who: Danny and anyone within splash radius.
Where: Espoir, by the fountain
Style: Start and I'll follow!
Status: OPEN like a Fenton Ghost Portal without a DNA lock!
Dusk is one of the hardest times to see much of anything. There's too much light for eyes to adjust to spotting moving shadows, and there's just too little light to pretend it's still day.

As he walked past the fountain, he heard someone cry out and then there was the sound of a lound splash. Maverick soon found himself (and his nice and expensive suit) completely soaked with freezing cold water. ]
What in the world!?

*There's your culprit, Maverick. It's this shivering, bedraggled, and faintly glowing little kid here.*

Interesting.
He clears his throat before speaking.]
This suit was very expensive, you know.
But anyway, are you alright boy?
Reply
S-sure, *Danny stutters, teeth chattering. He pulls himself out of his pile and drags himself to feet, using the fountain rim for support. Even in ghost form, it seems, the shock of cold hasn't been kind.* Just--f-freezing!
I'm s-sorry about y-your suit!

It's fine. I have plenty more where this came from. Don't worry.
However, if you don't mind me asking you boy, why didn't I see you when I passed the fountain and why are you glowing? Do you a power of some sort?
Reply
Um. *His eyes slide away from his for a moment.* N-No power...
T-those were p-probably because I'm--s-sort of a ghost.
*That gaze is back, and even though the corners of his mouth are curved tentatively upward now, it's as plain as day that Maverick is being watched for a reaction. Danny's ready to leave if he has to.*
Reply
Sort of a ghost? Does that mean you're dead or close to it?
Reply
*Danny winces.* I mean--yes, I'm d-dead. I don't think ghosts h-happen unless you really are, s-so...
*There's something in Danny's expression that makes something not ring right. The wrong flavor of regret? Wistfulness? Why feel bad over what he just said, when he obviously has bigger things to brood over?*
Reply
[Maverick notes the regretful expression on Danny's face. Interesting.
He makes himself look worried..]
Is something wrong, son?
Reply
Um--n-nothing? Only--I'm--k-kind of f-freezing t-to the ground here--
*Danny's eyebrows draw together as an idea occurs to him, and he loosens his arms a little. This guy was surprised, but he doesn't hate ghosts, so it couldn't hurt to do something as innocuous as drying off, right? Plus, he is trying to figure out how the public here reacts to ghostly-stuff anyway...*
*Mind made up, he says as an aside,* 'S-scuse me for a s-second.
*Then he squeezes his eyes shut for a second, and all the water soaking him hits the ground at once.*
Th-there! *Danny grins, shivering less, now.* Th-that's better.

Still, it was still fascinating to meet others with powers he had never seen before. And this ghost boy could be very useful to him.]
That's a nice and useful ability you have there, boy. [he chuckles] Such a quick way to get dry! I wish I could do that.
Reply
If you w-want I could probably do it for y-you, too?
Reply
You can? That would be great. After all, an old man like me shouldn't be wet and cold in this weather.
How can I thank you for this...What is your name, boy?
Reply
Um--Danny.
Danny Ph-phantom. And don't worry about repaying me--it was k-kind of my fault in the first place.
Reply
You just saved me some money on dry cleaning son. Thank you.
Danny Phantom? [He makes a mental note to remember that name. Maverick holds out his hand.] My name is Albert. Albert Maverick.
Reply
Nice to meet you. *Danny shakes his hand with a grip stronger than his shivering, unassuming frame would suggest.*
Um--how long have you been in Somarium, Mr Maverick?
