Kamui had decided to meet Itachi here again. It was a place they both knew, and it would also make this gift-giving session, brief. Not that Kamui didn't like the shinobi's company, it was very opposite, he thought the other was interesting. But he was sure Itachi had other things to attend to, other people to see, things to do. The vampire figured it was better than idling around in the cold.
As he waited for the ninja to arrive, he looked down at the present he had to offer. He normally went for practical gifts, things that would be used often, so he was a little skeptical about the Dessert Cookbook he brought along. But it was already too late, he could catch the shinobi scent in the air...even the sound of the other's crows.

The flapping of Hugin and Munin's wings were easily heard. The crows landed on the fountain, peering into it where Nessie was swimming. The birds hopped around, Munin looking curiously at Kamui while Hugin cawed out to Itachi, who wasn't too far behind.
The shinobi was dressed careful in warm clothes for the winter, plain black jeans, a black turtleneck, and his red coat. A thin, red-and-silver striped scarf was knotted loosely at his neck, and plain black gloves now covered his hands. His ink whip of a ponytail followed behind him as he walked.
When Hugin cawed out, Itachi's gaze lifted up, and he spotted Kamui. He lifted one hand in greeting.

Then in the distance he saw a familiar figure. It was Itachi. Kamui noticed the way the other was dressed. It was 180 degree change from how they first meet in this exact place. The ninja was definitely prepared for winter now. And that was good because it was especially colder today since there was fresh white snow on ground from the night before. The cold temperature steady so that none of the snow melted. It was a perfect white Christmas.
He mimicked the same gesture the shinobi had greeted him with, before slipping his dark gloves hand back into his coat pockets, his dark boots shifting in the snow as he waited.

"Hello," Itachi stated. his breath escaped into the air. His face was a bit flushed. He had been walking around Espoir all day. He shifted the package to one hand, lifting a gloved hand a coughing gently, once. "...I apologize, for the wait, Kamui-san."

He presented his own gift to Itachi. Outwardly, it was wrapped in a plain brown paper and had a rectangular shape. There was even a bit of weight to the gift as well, but to the Vampire it was nothing. He held it out to the shinobi. He wasn't going to apologize for the appearance, but suddenly it just slipped from his lips."...I don't know how to wrap, so you'll have to excuse the appearance."
Reply
"...I don't... know how to wrap, either. The woman at the store... wrapped mine. I just chose the colors." Welp. Now that the secret was out. Itachi looked down at the plain brown wrapping, before looking to Kamui.
"...Is it all right if I open it now?"

Kamui hadn't know that whole gift wrapping thing could have been avoided. Next time he would make sure to utilize that knowledge for another time. Though he didn't know if they'll ever be.
Kamui nodded, giving the other permission to open his gift. Just like Itachi, it was something he had thought about over Takuma's mini-tea party. The other had showed some interesting in learning to make the sweets Takuma made. As Itachi opened his, Kamui felt it was okay to his gift, and he was a bit surprised to see what it was. At first, he didn't recognize it. It looked like a simple robe to him, but the fabric was too light for that. Then this must be the Yukata.
He waited for Itachi to open his and see his reaction.

It wasn't a bad gift... in fact... for some reason (even if Kamui had not been thinking this upon buying it), it felt nice to believe that perhaps... someone thought with his own skills he could learn. And by his own, he meant... without the Sharingan.
"...I've been wanting to learn how to cook," Itachi suddenly found himself admitting. And the truth just kept on spilling out of his mouth. "...I thought... perhaps I could make better food and not eat at cafes all the time. Its...
"Lonely... eating by yourself."
There was some silence.
"...Thank you."

"But I hope the book is useful to you. Maybe it'll be more satisfying to eat things you've made, instead of the ones brought in the store." Kamui said sincerely. Not only was truth there, but also kindness. He then nodded to Itachi. "And thank you for this. I'll have to wear it when it gets warmer."
Reply
"For New Years... its to be worn for New Years."
Itachi looked down at the book. "...If its still cold, clothes can be worn under it to stay warm."
But there was something else that pushed at Itachi's lips. He didn't want to say anything, but in the end, it came out anyway.
"...In my world... I was always with someone. I had... a partner, a friend, who was older. He kept an eye on me while I wandered the world with him. And... if not him, a group of people. We may not have been friends... but they were there. A semblance of togetherness.
"...But..."

And Itachi looked up to Kamui with his red eyes. It took a moment, but they finally focused on the vampire's face.
"...I would...
"I would like to be your friend, Kamui-san. If that's all right. I...
"...I enjoy your company. I like you."

The brunette was stunned to hear that from Itachi. It wasn't what was said that bothered him, but how it was said. He had gained friends here, close ones and ones he regarded as only acquaintances. But none of them had came out and said it like that.
Kamui wasn't sure what to say to that, but somehow the words formed on his tongue and he was speaking." You...want to be my friend? But why? How?"
The vampire silenced himself, covering his mouth as if he was afraid of what else might come out. It didn't make sense to him. Itachi and he hadn't really spend much time together, and he didn't think he was the best company. After all he treated Itachi the same as everyone, keeping them at a distance. But even so....

Kamui's gaze had faltered, but it returned to meet Itachi's red eyes."...But you seem like a person I could relate to. I can't deny that I would value you as a friend.
But...we can't be friends." Kamui finished, looking away from Itachi.
"...you'll be in danger if you were friends with me." The brunette started, it was better that Itachi kept his distance. He would hate for himself to fall to the hunger again and he had to feed on someone else. Maybe if the other knew what he was it would justify everything."...it's because I'm a vampire."

Itachi felt his heart give a heavy pound--disappointed, hurt... but it was when Kamui came out and said that he was a vampire, that Itachi looked to him with a shocked expression. It was apparently in how wide those red eyes of his became.
"...A vampire..." So both he and Takuma were...
"...Like... Takuma-san?" Another pause. "...You...
"Drink blood, then... is that why?"
Reply
But still..."...Yes, that's a big reason why."
Kamui didn't hurt humans, but this world was lacking what he did hunt. Prey. And so the next best thing was feeding from humans."...doesn't that bother you?"
Reply
"...You've had opportunity to hurt me several times. The first time we met, I was alone in my apartment... and we have met during the night-time, as well." And now, the nighttime was approaching as they spoke. "...Yet I still stand.
"If I let the truth bother me now..."
Itachi closed his eyes, his hand coming up to grasp the locket that Takuma had given him with Sasuke's picture in it.
"...I would be a hypocrite."
