Tamaki stood in front of the large Christmas tree, staring up at it. It was a bit odd for it to have a disco ball but...well this Christmas seemed to be as unique as the others. But for anyone passing by, they may notice a more subdued and melancholic expression-contrary to what he normally would be. He should be marveling at everything, not just staring up in silence. So why?
It had been a few days since he had woken up from his extended sleep coma and with Christmas drawing near, he was taking every chance he could to see what had changed as well as get his Christmas shopping done. He was mostly set, as evidenced by the several bags set down by his feet. But it just wasn't the same. He had woken up only to find Kyouya had left while he was asleep. Furthermore, he had missed out quite a lot of harrowing events, essentially leaving all his friends and loved ones alone and without his help. Tamaki knew he couldn't have helped it, but he felt guilty all the same.
Tamaki reached into his pocket and pulled out something-a small ornament. It was in the shape of a notebook with a pen attached. It even opened to actual paper where one could write messages on it. He hadn't realized he bought it until he was walking through the store, though he knew why. After another moment of staring, he scribbled something onto one of the blank pages. With a small smile, he then stepped up to the tree, picked an empty branch, and hung the ornament there.
"Merry Christmas, Kyouya," he said softly before turning back around to get his things.
The message?
Thanks for being my best friend. -Tamaki
