[Needless to say, grocery shopping was the furthest thing from Dino's mind now. A friend was in trouble - Lloyd was practically family to Dino here in somarium, so he dropped his original plan and set off for Lloyd's place, as fast as his unwittingly clumsy feet would carry him.

[--That is to say, when he arrived, he had a fair bit of snow in his hair, clinging to the fur of his hood and soaked into his khakis, but like a real trooper, Dino wore a face of determination (in spite of the embarrassed flush), brandishing his whip in the ready.

[He scanned the exterior of the apartment building for these dangerous angels Lloyd had warned him about... so far not seeing anything out of the ordinary]

[There he is. Lloyd lets out a slow breath when he sees Dino coming up the sidewalk. Almost there. Almost safe.

He can't resist opening the door, smiling.]

Dino! Come on, get inside quick!

[Big, relieved grin when he spotted his friend. That was almost too easy, ahahaha!

[Keeping his whip in hand just to be safe, Dino headed over to Lloyd, shaking some of the melting snow out of his hair]

I made it!

[Still grinning, Lloyd reaches out to playfully swipe at Dino's hair.]

Good thing, too. Any more snow in your hair and I don't think anyone would have found you until spring. Come on, let's head up to my... room...

[He trails off, staring at a blank spot in the air near the door with rapidly widening eyes.]

Dino, get back!

[Dino's laugh stopped short when Lloyd called out in alarm, whipping his wet hair around to face --

[Eh, nothing. His whip is drawn taut between both hands and Dino looked around for the source before it had a chance to attack first. But he came up short, finally returning questioning eyes back to his friend]

What was it?

[Lloyd slides into position between Dino and the empty space, drawing out his swords.]

That's one of the angels I warned you about. He must have gotten in when you did somehow.

Ah ... [Still peering over Lloyd's shoulder, blinking] -- but where?

[What? Dino, how can you not see?]

He's right in front of us! He's- Look out! He's preparing to cast a spell!

[Places a somber hand on his friend's shoulder, not seeing anything] Lloyd... [Clears his throat]

Are you OK?

[Lloyd shakes his head frantically.]

Dino, I'm not making this up! He's-

[Panic flashes across his face.]

GUARDIAN!

[Green mana flares into a defensive shell, protecting them both from...

Air.]

[Dino's eyes grew wider. Cue freak out face for a second, because even though he doesn't see anything, his body still responds to the adrenaline of a fight, because obviously Lloyd senses a threat.

[It's just... he doesn't know what to do. Is it an illusion? He has experience with illusions, but it's strange that Lloyd can see them and he can't. Illusions aren't reality, but that doesn't mean they're invisible.

[So Dino's just hanging tight for the moment, though he releases Lloyd's shoulder to scratch the crown of his head in bewilderment]

[A few moments pass, then Guardian fades out. Lloyd straightens up, but he's still watching the air warily, ready for another attack. Mind racing, he lowers his voice.]

Dino, I swear, there's an angel standing right in front of the door. I don't know why you can't see him, but if you take your whip and aim for the lock on the door, you can't miss. See if you can distract him for a minute.

Ah... but I don't want to damage your place. [Dino said. Normally he wouldn't be so considerate for his surroundings during a fight - Lord knows he'd seen the ruin of several venues in part due to his clumsiness OK, but to take it out on Lloyd's door when Dino couldn't really sense or see anything of alarm except for how panicked his friend was... eh. He hesitated]

Say, Lloyd. You sure you're feeling OK? Do you have a fever?

I'm fine. You can feel the back of my neck if you don't believe me.

[He's standing close enough to Dino that that should be easy enough. He actually doesn't have a fever, though. He came by the hallucinations a different way. But the effects are still the same.]

We have to break whatever spell he's casting. Then you'll be able to see him. The best way to do that is to attack him, and that means either you use your whip, or I use my sword.
