With it getting much colder and the light snow, Aurora knew very well it was time to stock up and gather as much as she could for what looked like an early winter. She collected as many berries, nuts, roots, herbs, vegetables, and everything else she could find and as much of it as she could find. While Aurora never knew hunger in her aunts home, she did know rationing in the woods, and she knew the signs when she saw them. Aurora had told Rapunzel and they set up a plan. As Aurora gathered every single day to ensure a surplus in their supplies, Rapunzel would make warmer clothes for the season. Aurora had set to finding enough fire wood as well. Neither of the girls owned an ax so chopping firewood would be out of the question.
However, Aurora was currently on a berry hunt. The trick to berry hunting was to leave enough for the animals but gather as much as would be needed for a long winter. The idea of hunting never once entered Aurora's mind. It was also important to gather from bushes and trees further away from the cottage and leave the ones nearest to the cottage as long as they could, that way they wouldn't have to travel too far into the cold as winter came closer.
Her basket was heavy and her closest woodland friend, the owl, was very careful to keep eyes out for anything. It wasn't just Aurora and the birds and squirrels looking for food after all. Bears would be readying for hibernation. Aurora thought for a moment about trying to gather honey but it would be better to have Rapunzel's help with that.
The princess was completely unaware that Phillip was in Somarium and had been for nearly a week. She was also unaware that the man who was still in her dreams since her arrival in Somarium, was riding to her as fast as the hooves of Samson could take him.
