[Sorry.

[He barely catches it. If it hadn't been for the faint stirring of Aya's breath against his neck he wouldn't even have known she had been trying to speak at all. Ken stops short, straining to hear-- he wishes he hadn't bothered trying. Sorry. Why is she sorry? He's the one fucked this one up, he's the one wasn't there when she needed him and it was all that Aya had asked from him, the only thing she wanted and he couldn't even get that right--

[Can't get anything right. Can't even get running right. Ken doesn't know where he's going, he doesn't even know how long he's been running for, he just knows he's breathing too damn hard and too damn fast and there's blood on his shirt, desperate, terrifying amounts of it and it's hot and it's sticky and it's hers and that's the most unbearable thing about it, and he can't run any more. He shouldn't have stopped, shouldn't have let himself realize that he's gasping like he's drowning in air, that his lungs are burning and his arms are shaking...

[She's sorry. Ken drops to his knees ( ... )

[Ken must have the most twisted case of luck tonight because there's a doctor nearby, one out after a bite to eat who hasn't done much good or bad lately. Caring for natives is a simple job and it doesn't eat up much of his time or energy.

When he first notices Ken, Muraki pauses, not sure if he should disappear or not. Ken has, after all, threatened to kill him if he screws up again and he's not fond of the idea of dying again. But once he notices that 1 - there is someone in Ken's arms and 2 - that someone is bleeding heavily, all of his worry fades and his mind tells him that this is not the time to be anything other than professional.

Saving the person he's carrying is more important than petty grudges and will be an excellent opportuniy for possible use against him. He steps in closely little by little, keeping both hands visible so Ken can tell he means no harm right now.]

I realize I may be the last person you wish to see right now, but I can help if you let me.

[OOC: At least I was still tracking it!]

Huh?

[It takes a moment for it to register why the voice sounds so familiar, and when it does - when he looks up because sometimes you have to know exactly how screwed you are - he feels like someone's cut the ground from under him. Damn it, wasn't this situation messed up enough?

[Muraki. Fuck.

[Hey, Hidaka. This reminding you of anything, you idiot? Muraki is probably the last person he would have ever wanted to see, ever: that's especially true right now. Why does this shit have to keep on happening, why can he never seem to make it stop? Ken clutches Aya tighter to him and please say he didn't hurt her, please, he glares up at Muraki from behind a fall of his own tangled hair and he's furious and he's terrified and he's trapped and what's worse he knows it. All he can do is run and he can't do that. There's nowhere to go. There's no one else to turn to--]

What do you want?!

[Ken can't believe it's anything good. You want to help? Come off it!]

[There's no blood on his clothes, Ken. Muraki wasn't the criminal tonight. He's in the right place at the right time to help for once, but it might take a little coercion to make it happen.

He can't blame Ken for being nervous or afraid of him given what's happened in the past, but for once, there's nothing cruel in his eyes or his voice. Muraki's powerless to do anything other than try to help.

Especially when he looks at Aya-chan and realizes who it is. She's believed in him more than anyone else here. Failing to help her would be a horrific failure.]

I want to save her life. From how she looks, you don't have time to get to the hospital and my clinic is just down the block.

[And wouldn't it be nice if that were true but how stupid does Muraki think he is?]

Come off it!

[Ken wants to sound angry; he only sounds desperate and scared and utterly, utterly hopeless.

[Aya needs help. Help that he can't give because he doesn't know how to, because he doesn't know where the Hell to even start. Ken can kill and he can keep himself alive, as long as he keeps his wits about him. That's where it ends-- and now Aya's dying and all he can do is hold her so tightly he can only be hurting her further, and watch as she bleeds her life out in his arms. He doesn't know what to do, there's nothing else he can do. He's lost and alone and he doesn't even know where his phone bloody well is; he can't save this girl no matter how much he wants to. Couldn't protect her from Daniella--

[And he can't turn Muraki down. Ken knows that as clearly as he knows anything, as clearly as he knows that Aya is dying. He can't run any more and it's weird enough that one doctor should have stumbled across them - how the Hell can he turn ( ... )

Because she has more faith in me than most of the city combined and I don't want to disappoint her when I could reassure her that believing in me was a good choice.

[He's cranky, but completely honest. This isn't about him right now, it's about Aya and the need to keep her alive.]

I won't ask you or her brother to pay me anything. Consider it payback for all I've done to you in the past, if you'd like.

Payback?

[You killed me.

[Ken doesn't trust him; he can't believe him. If Muraki told him fire burned he'd double-check just to be sure. A man like this has no right to be talking about faith and all the fine words in the world can't change the fact that he's a multiple murderer and that's just for starters...

[No, Ken doesn't trust Muraki any further than he can see him and even that's pushing it, but he can't afford not to trust him. If Muraki changes his mind and leaves, Aya's going to die in his arms. Even if the guy's fucking with them, even if he's - he's planning something... he's got to take that chance. What else is he meant to do? Aya needs help: he can't take that away from her just because he doesn't like the one guy who's prepared to help her's face!

[Aya's as good as dead anyway. She at least has nothing to lose. Ken closes his eyes, he grits his teeth. What choice does he have?]

Okay. You win. Help her.

[He's done terrible things in the past and he's likely to do terrible things in the future, but for now Muraki is nothing more that a doctor who doesn't want to lose another patient. Losing them is part of why he gave in to his evil blood, after all. As long as he can save people when he needs it, everything else is irrelavent.

[If he saves Aya, he doesn't expect anything from her brother, or anyone else she's close to. Seeing her open her eyes will be reward enough.

[He stands there silently as Ken weighs his options over and the moment he gives in, Muraki reaches out to take her in his larger arms.]

Come with me to my clinic. I'll need a spare set of hands while I patch her up. Do you know what caused the injuries at all?

[For a moment he fights it. Blame instinct if you need something to blame. Muraki reaches out to take Aya from him and Ken just pulls her all the closer, clings all the tighter, his own arms aching, her hair falling soft and ticklish against his neck - he said he'd look out for her and he fucked up once already. I'm not letting go now, Aya. I'm not--

[Hey, Hidaka. Who are you trying to kid?]

Okay.

[He lets go, and he hates himself for it. Ken sits back and lets Muraki take Aya from him because he can hate it all he likes but this is the only chance she's got and there's nothing he can do about that, either. Once the unconscious girl has been tugged from his arms Ken pushes himself to his feet and steadies himself against the wall, stumbling slightly as he fights for balance-- It's as if he's never seen anything of the sort in his life: right now, he could be anybody at all. He's shaking, his cheeks are pale and his eyes are wide and all he wants to do is drop. So much for Siberian ( ... )

[He adjusts her in his grip and starts walking towards his clinic fast. Ken should be able to keep up, from what Muraki remembers seeing of his speed in their past meetings. If he had his powers, he'd simply teleport there, but that's no longer an option.

Once he hears that Ken doesn't know the weapon specifically, he sighs. A metal bar could be anything and with the wound in her abdomen, the chance of infection is extremely high even before figuring in rust or dirt from the weapon.

They get to the back door of his clinic and Muraki eases it open with his elbow, shoves it open, and feels grateful this door opens into the room that serves as his surgery.]

I need to wash and grab supplies. You can help now by pulling on gloves and removing the clothing around her injuries -- I have scissors in the second drawer on your left.

[He grabs everything he thinks he may need, including blood that needs to come to room temperature before it can be transfused into her.]
