Hatori had just been passing by when he saw the man on sitting on the ground. In a thin kimono. There was no way that could be good for his health. Still, he wasn't sure if he could help him. With a sigh, he decided he would at least try and went over.
"Are you alright?"
It was the best question to begin with in circumstances like these. It got straight to the point and gave him an idea of what he needed to know.
The newcomer looked up. "Ahh, I think I am, physically, at least. Bit startled and disoriented: I'd just gone to sleep a few minutes ago, and when I woke up, I was here," he replies, friendly, even chuckling a bit at his odd circumstances.
Then growing more serious, he asks, "Is this a dream of some kind? It's a really vivid one if it is."
So he's just arrived then. That was troubling. Still, Hatori just nodded at that before leaning down to hold out his hand so he could offer to help him up. Sitting on the ground couldn't be comfortable.
He blinks, perplexed, and shakes his head. "How can that be? I mean, how could anyone fall asleep in one world and wake up in another? It kinda doesn't make much sense."
"The dream gate? Huh? You mean this place is a dream world of some kind?" he asks, puzzled, clearly not sure what to make of any of it. But he set that aside for the moment. "Sure, it's a bit cold out here, so I probably should find some place to warm up," he says, reaching up his hand.
"It is." Helping him up, Hatori glanced down at his attire. A warm place would be good, yes. But he certainly needed more than just that. "You need warmer clothes as well."
"Yeah, ah, I woke up here wearing what I had on when I fell asleep: I was in the hospital, getting over some bad burns, when I'd just settled down for the night," he replies. "Next thing I know, I woke up and I was lying right here."
"You're moving well for having been burned..." He was a doctor so his first instinct was to look him over with a glance as if to be sure he was alright.
That made him pause and blink in mild surprise. Another one of those? "I see. I can possibly lend you some clothes in the meantime though," he said, changing the subject.
"If you will come with me to my place I will get you something to wear." He then turned to lead the way to where his cottage was. "I will also provide you with some tea while we're there."
"Ooh, tea would be great: perfect thing to warm me back up," he says, following his guide. "That and a meal, if it's not too inconvenient. I'm kinda hungry, too."
"That can be arranged." There was plenty of food in the house to handle a guest having something to eat. "You will need to find a place to stay as well."
"Are you alright?"
