[Maka looks up from what she's doing-- on the counter there was a bit of sliced up lettuce and some bread sitting nearby, so it looks like that simple lunch she was going for was just a sandwich.]
[she doesn't stop what she's doing, because if anything Maka should have expected that question to come fairly soon in this conversation; a part of her wish it wouldn't, because she'd rather just forget about it, but that line of thinking really wasn't fair of her at all.]
It's not like I wanted to. But he's been here a long time, and so have I.
Well yeah, he's not exactly the kind of person you'd get yourself involved with willingly. Doesn't change the fact that the two of you have some kind of history.
[and she does just that, eventually emerging into the livingroom with two plates and a can of soda for the each of them, setting it all down on the small table out there before plopping down into a chair.]
There. I would have made more, but I'm not that hungry right now.
Hey, Maka. [yawns] Man, what time is it?

[he leans against the counter next to Maka]
You feel ok?

[slice, slice, slice, and then she grabs the nearby tomato]
You want one?

[he watches her closely]
You sure...? It was a rough night.

[he still doesn't think you're ok and he's probably going to find out if he's right in a moment.] So that guy, Ace. How d'you know him?

[Soul heads into the living room. To say he's concerned is a bit of an understatement right now.]
