At the break of dawn, a strange light appeared alongside the sun. This light was actually erupting from the peak of the floating mountain, and it seemed to cascade and shower down in waves. As it spread out over the city, the purple crystals that were implanted on any unfortunate victim suddenly shattered and disappeared into dust. The person would pass out, but would eventually reawaken feeling weak, lightheaded, and healed from their torment.

The creatures that had invaded Somarium were not as fortunate. They were instantly destroyed, disappearing into smokey ash before the winds carried the remains away.

This all took only a few minutes, but there was still more to be done. For anyone who was awake, they would have seen the barrier shimmer and glow, as if reacting to something. Lines and circles weaved through the already existing glyphs, the colors changing as they worked through. The tear slowly mended itself, the lines from each edge wriggling and extending toward each other like a live creature. When they connected, there were loud snaps and clicks as they pulled each other together. In a matter of minutes, what had once been a large gaping hole was now an invisible seal. It was if it had never existed.

Outside, things were changing as well. Agonizing screams and roars could be heard from the infested, dark waters of the whirlpool. Steam and white bubbles formed on its surface as the swirling waters slowed. Creatures that looked oddly like Lake Meridan's "Nessie" erupted from through the surface, their long necks craning and mouths gaping as they snatched up the whirlpool's dark inhabitants. It was a grisly scene, but this, too, lasted only for several minutes before everything grew quiet again. Whatever that had happened on the surface was now happening deep underwater. But the waters eventually grew eerily still, the black color slowly fading to a darker gray.

And all this was witnessed by the stone faced soldiers whom had arrived only a few days ago, as if they had either expected or were used to such scenes. Once everything settled, they started the long clean up process.

Somarium was at peace once again.
