The past few days had been rough as the attacks increased with each passing day. But it looked like hope was on the horizon. Clouds of dust could be seen out in the desert, and soon vehicles were spotted rapidly approaching the city. They were coming in from all directions: north, south, east, west. Blasts from various weapons were heard as they fended off the occasional monster that tried their luck for a quick snack.
By mid-morning, the jeeps and caravans went through the barrier and onto the public roads. As they passed by, the following words blared through the loudspeakers located atop the larger vehicles:
Attention all civilians. We are a specialized unit, No. 3728, and bring additional aid and supplies.
If anyone has been attacked and is infected by the purple crystal gem, seek special medical attention immediately. Stations will be set up in the village.
I repeat, if you are infected by the purple crystal gem, seek special medical attention immediately.
Even as the announcement echoed throughout the city and they continued to proceed toward their destination, soldiers were taking down any of the possessed locals that tried to attack, some hopping off at certain areas as if to hunt down the rest.
Whoever these people were, it was clear they were at the very least here to help.
