[Barely a split second would pass before the young girl's father would appear, practically out of nowhere, to save her, just as he has always promised he would.

Jean Valjean's usually kind face is quite hardened at the thought of his youngest daughter being harmed.

With a thick, strong hand, he grab firmly onto the wrist of the demon who held Alice's long hair back and twisted, not enough to cause any permanent damage but certainly enough to make the crazed person's grasp go weak.]

[There was a soft grunt of pain from the man with the purple eyes and Alice rushed out of his grip to her father's side.]

Daddy! [She sobbed, relieved to be with him.]

[The men gazed at Valjean and Alice and started to head towards them.]

[Valjean, though strong enough for it, has no desire to fight these men. Leave that up to the police to handle.

The older man hoists up his young daughter and flees, strangely fast for a man slowly approaching seventy.]

[She holds onto him for dear life, which is quite accurate, all things considered. The men are quick to follow but can't keep up with Valjean.]

[Even if they were fast enough to keep up, Valjean doubts that anyone else in this place (besides those few young men Javert had asked him to tail) could run up the side of walls with ease like he can.

But still, Valjean does not stop until they are home back in Espoir. Where he is certain to release Alice and see her safe.]

[When they reach home she's sobbing into her father's shoulder, petrified at what they just went through and what those men might have done... whatever that jewel was she knew it wouldn't be good.]

D-Daddy I- t-those men-

They will not harm you again, Alice. [For once, the man's voice is firm and a bit less kind than usual.]

I will not leave your side.

[She sniffles and wipes at her eyes before she takes a deep breath, trying to calm down. Her face is red and her eyes are puffy, but other than a slightly sore scalp, she is no worse for wear.]

W-Where is Cosette, is she safe?

[Without hesitation, now that the pair are safe, Valjean scoops Alice into his beefy arms for a hug.]

She is safe. Our family is out of danger.

[She just hugs onto him tight, so very glad to be out of that mess and away from the men. She closes her eyes and rests her head on his shoulder.]

Let's make some hot cocoa and retire for the evening.

[She gives a small nod as she just holds onto her father as they go into the kitchen.]

Daddy... could I sleep with you tonight?
