[A dart sails through the air and embeds itself in the arm holding Alice's hair, the pain causing an instinctive release. From several meters away Omi is rushing forward-- and boy does he look mad.]

[Purple eyes turn on Omi, before Alice could escape another grabbed her from around the throat and she let out a whimper as the grip tightened. The men didn't say anything as they just stared at Omi, eyes glaring.]

[Worry flashes across his face as her throat is grabbed. It quickly turns to heightened fury.]

Cut it out!

[He whips out another poison-tipped dart as he draws near. Rather than throw this dart, he uses it like a dagger as he targets the arm holding Alice, fully intent to use either the protective withdrawal or the opening from a hit as his chance to scoop the girl up and take off running.]

[In pain the man released Alice and she coughed as she was released, stumbling forward and trying to get to Omi before she was grabbed again. One tried to catch her arm but she just narrowly escaped.]

[Omi has no trouble picking Alice up and taking off running. He ducks a grab in his initial sprint away, and though he can hear them chasing behind, his confidence doesn't falter. He looks over his shoulder for a quick assessment of how much distance he's managed to place between them. Then he gives Alice a reassuring smile. There is no fear to be found in his expression.]

It's okay; they won't catch you.

He averts course to avoid being intercepted from another up ahead. He heads towards the shopping district and shifts Alice's weight so that he can dig into his pocket. He pulls out a set of keys that he hands to the girl as he continues to run.]

Look for the key with a trapezoid base. We're going inside.

[Shapes she knew. Shapes were easy for the little girl. She wasn't in Dame School anymore after all. She quickly fumbled around with the keys, the keys jingling softly before she pulled up the key Omi told her about.]

Excellent; that's a big help.

[He takes the key as they approach the building. Rather than run to the front entrance, he zips down the alley and turns to the rear of the building. It takes mere seconds to unlock the door, open it, get inside, and close and lock it behind him. Deadbolt turned, he lets out a satisfied breath and sets Alice down. They're in Nectar's back room.]

Are you hurt?

[She hadn't even been running but she was panting. Well... she had been running earlier. Now, she was shaking as she just held onto Omi, trying to catch her breath.

They had escaped.

But she wasn't home. She knew it would be horribly ungrateful of her to nit-pick at being taken to Nectar, but she had to check in on her father and sister. After her body stopped shaking though.]

No... just... they just pulled my hair. [Although a light bruise was forming on her neck.] Thank you... Oh-me.

[Omi nods, glad to hear that she isn't injured. He takes a brief survey of the items in the back to verify what's available. Pots. Pruning shears. Glass vases. He still has three darts, one without poison. That Nectar's back room wasn't an ideal place to take a young girl never occurs to him. Factoring into his decision was awareness that the building was strong, that he had access to inside, and that there were plenty of makeshift weapons available in the event fighting became inevitable. It was also familiar to him, which gave him an environmental advantage.

As long as they are there, though, he takes an edelweiss from their stock and offers it to Alice with a smile.]

[She gently takes the flower, the little white flower seemed to fit her hand. Alice took a soft sniff of the bloom before glancing at the door. At Omi's comment she blushed and then smiled, a small smile but a smile nonetheless.]

What are you talking about? It's being a little unfair on yourself to make a comparison like that. Let's just remember what you did. Acting in spite of fear takes a lot of inner strength.
